(Lights up. The Dudes' appartment. The place is... surprisingly tidy, actually. MIKE JOHNSTON and CAMERON SCOTT are up and about, both dressed in very casual red clothes. Mike, his bowling shirt, and Cam a red Hawaiian shirt.)
MIKE: Happy Chinese New Year, NAPW!
CAM: Indeed. 2006 marks the beginning of the Year of the Dog.
MIKE: Children born this year will tend to grow up with a sense of loyalty, of honesty and an ability to bring out confidence and trust in others.
CAM: Did you open all your doors and windows last night at midnight? That's how you help exspell the old year.
MIKE: Also, the very first thing said, by the very first person you meet today will hold wisdom as to what the new year will have in store.
CAM: You shouldn't lend them anything though. That sets a precedent of lending throughout the year.
MIKE: Try not to say anything negative today, or swear or cry. These also set precedents that can last all year.
CAM: You should also dress with some red! Red is the colour or renewal and rebirth, and represents a sunny a bright future. Remember, you're trying to set a happy and positive precedent for the next year!
MIKE: So, we hope everyone else has a great beginning to the Year of the Dog, and a bright and happy 2006!
(Mike and Cam turn to leave, as the lights fade.)
MIKE: So which direction did the almanac say was fortunate?
CAM: East. But that's good. Dan's place is directly east of here.
MIKE: Mah Jongg, all day? Brilliant!
(Lights down.)
