Ravager on Jasper Avenue. He is talking on his cell phone.
Don't worry about it. I have things under control. ... Well, I have a title to focus on as well. Just stay out of trouble and you'll be fine. I'll run in if I have too.
Ravager ends his call.
I listened to what the Predator had to say today. About how he would give the title shot to a more deserving person if D! retains the championship. It got me to thinking. Could I ever do something that selfless? To give up something I worked so hard to get? This business tends to breed egos. I watch as people get swelled heads. The more success they get, the more outlandish their demands get. They lose their friends. They start to pick up destructive habits. All because they were given too much too soon. And then someone comes along who makes a gesture that almost makes up for every sick thing I've seen these past few months.
Predator. I have to give you respect. You have the most noble of intentions. But it doesn't make much difference. You see, at Joker's Wild, I am going to take the next step in my career. I have worked too hard for too long to let my chance at the title slip away. I want to be the man to take down Chris Casino. But if D! gets there first, so be it. Because I need to face him in the ring. And quite frankly, he needs to face me, because neither of us can co-exist as long as we are left wondering: who's better?
To all my opponents at Joker's Wild. I will give everything I have to be the number one contender. I expect no less from any of you. Just try not to be disappointed when it's my hand raised at the end of the night.
Ravager's cell phone rings. He checks his call display.
(muttering) What part of "you don't need to keep calling me don't you understand?"
Ravager walks away before we can hear who he's talking to.
To Be continued.
