(The scene is several days, several dates, and several appearances after the last time we saw Rex Caliber. We find him at his Lake Norman home. He is on the front porch, drinking a beer, thinking about what the future holds for him.)
REX: Lake Norman is a beautiful place. We have superstars from the NBA Charlotte Bobcats, and the NFL Carolina Panthers, living all around here. I’m roughly three hours away from where REBEL will be hosting it’s first show. This place is truly home. I sold my other place in Parts Unknown, North Carolina, and bought this place when I retired. I have been through a lot in a year and half. I own my own wrestling promotion. I have awards and titles from various promotions. I received a son, and lost him. Stories don’t often end perfectly.. or happy. I didn’t retire for my son, nor because I couldn’t take it anymore. I retired because I lost the passion to compete. I lost that proverbial fire.
(Rex finishes off his beer, and opens another one.)
REX: Even before I got NAPW under my control, that fire came back just a tad. It was watching Joey ruin the federation I helped build. The federation that Bruce Richards, D!, Sick Billy, and even Lloyd Rees, helped build. The party doesn’t always go on for people. Sometimes you get one party and it’s over. You miss opportunities to do what you love to do. Rex Caliber loves to beat peoples asses. I battled Static at Cold Snap and... it came back. The flame was flickering before, and it spread through my veins like wild fire. I became engrossed with this need to fight, to win. Then I get a call from an old friend. He owned a bunch of the strip clubs I frequented. I came up with a deal with him to help NAPW and his own venture out.
REX: Then it hit me. I can’t honestly wrestle for the company I own... The boys would call bullshit quickly, and would leave. They have been through enough with Joey. But this company... I can kick ass in. He signed away a few great talents... I give him credit. But his best deal was signing me. The matches he can have now. Me versus Kyle, first show: is sounds awesome... on paper. Me versus Billy... money. Me versus Ravager... were tied, and I don’t like ties, it would be great. Me versus Caliban... epic. Again to me versus Kyle... I’m sure it might intrigue some, but honestly the man will get destroyed. Anyone else I mentioned... it’s a pick’em and I go out and do my best. I’m confident I could beat them, but I know they can also pin me. Kyle.. No disrespect... but I can’t imagine a scenario where you beat me one on one, without some underhanded tactic. Underhand tactics are your best bet. You can claim to have all these great matches with no weapons, but that ring bell will enter the match.. I’d bet money. No rules here, so there’s no reason to bitch and moan. I wouldn’t anyway... but I’m just stating the fact, if Roberts wants to win... he better bring some shit like that... or it will not, can not happen.
REX: I’m tired from all these events. I’m tired from the women wanting to ride the greatest ride in the world today. I’m tired from your arrogant ass thinking what happened over a year will somehow happen again. You had a partner, and now you don’t. You aren’t in your element. You are a lost puppy dog, and I’m a semi truck who didn’t see you. SPLAT! I’m not my hyper self today, because even God takes a day off, so maybe Rex should too. No appearances, no dates, just me... the beer, and the lake front view. I have lost more than you could imagine Kyle. You think running away from your problems in NAPW is the answer? You think running away from the only people that cared about you at all is what you need? You have nothing... and it should make you dangerous... but it don’t. You are weakened. You are just not seeing reality. Amy directed you, she was truly the driving force behind SKR. Bruce was the man who made everything happen. He made deals, he made you money. Not that blood sucker Ryan... it was Bruce. You just have your wrestling ability left, and it isn’t nothing to write home about. You have failed in everything you set forth in all year long. Kyle... face facts, this isn’t last year. Your not part of the greatest tag team in the world... hell you never were. The Crimes were better in every facet but one... our egos didn’t coexist as long as you two’s did. I entered this federation to face the best, and I will destroy everyone in my way. I am going to beat you, and beat you violently. People ask me why the name change, and I tell them to buy a ticket to the first show. I am going to be a human assault vehicle. Your ass is gonna get hurt bad. I’m going to hear the bell, and let out so much anger, so much frustration that your face will resemble splattered tomato thrown from a tenth story window.
REX: And you haven’t really tried too piss me off that bad. You keep talking, and the blood will spill faster. Keep up the shit, and your bones break faster. I am your master and you know it. You can’t beat me. I owe you this ass whipping. I owe it to you and you don’t realize why. Not because of business, not because of the ladder match... what you did to me haunts me to this day. I get asked all the time... “If Kyle wouldn’t have interfered in the Canada Cup finals, would you have beaten Billy?”
REX:You robbed me of my decisive victory. Now over a year removed... I sit here and ponder that very question.
(Rex finishes the beer, and crushes the can in his hand. He stands up and gets close to the camera.)
REX: I CAN’T (BLEEP)ING ANSWER THAT QUESTION! I worked harder for that match than any other. He was the toughest man I ever faced, and you robbed me of that clean win. You self righteous son of a bitch... you (BLEEP)ed me. I’ve waited all this time to finally get you back. I never had the opportunity before, and maybe six months ago it wouldn’t even cross my mind. But a thing happens when you retire. You think. And thinking isn’t good for a man with no one to hurt. Ladies and gentleman the One Man Crimes Spree is coming to Raleigh and bringing a years worth of hell and torment. A year of bad deals, and screw jobs. A year of bullshit... it ends and something else is born.
In The Beginning... Rex will dominate... and when it ends... you will remember Kyle Roberts for one thing, and it absolutely won’t be winning... it’ll be for losing his first REBEL match in a bloody, bone smashing fashion, to me... the next REBEL champion.
REX CALIBER!
