Stanley Cup Finals Predictions Thread

Well, boys, it's all come down to this:

Ottawa Senators (4th in the East) vs. the Anaheim Ducks (2nd in the West).

My only question is, will anyone in Edmonton be rooting for either team? You've got Ottawa's Mike Comrie, the most hated ex-Oiler until this past summer, the hometown boy who was loved by Oilers fans. Well, until he held out for more money one season, and allegedly had an affair with Tommy Salo's wife. Since then, he's booed every time he touches the puck at Rexall Place.

Then there's Anaheim's Chris Pronger, the guy who bounced Comrie out for Most-Hated Ex-Oiler after wanting a trade after last year's trip to the Stanley Cup. Well, after rumours of his wife wanting out of the city because of an alleged affair with an Edmonton eye-candy journalist.

That being said, I enjoy both teams. Sure, here in Edmonton, there are plenty of guys who don't want Comrie or Pronger to win a Cup after what they did here. But come on! The Sens and Ducks both play exciting hockey! And now the Sens shouldn't have Ottawa fans yelling for their blood, because they've proved themselves as Cup contenders. I've enjoyed Anaheim ever since their last trip to the Cup in 2003, since their head coach at the time used to coach in Moose Jaw for the Warriors.

Oh, right. Predictions. I'm voting with my heart, because I want a Canadian team to win.

Sens in seven. It's going to be a tough series. Granted, I said that for Buffalo/Ottawa, and look how that turned out.

Sens in seven. Comrie was a douche, but he didn't cripple the team by leaving. Pronger on the other hand? I think the Sens can win, and I'm also voting with my heart here. Three straight finals, three Canadian teams in the finals. This year Ottawa breaks the losing streak.

I got both conference finals completely wrong. But I'm going Ottawa. I think they can shut down the Ducks offense, the big line of Spezza/Heatley/Alfredsonn can score goals like they're going out of style, and Emery will be juuuuust good enough. It won't go more than six.

I really can't say I can get behind Ottawa as "Canada's team" the way I did Calgary and obviously Edmonton. Oh well.

Shame that Calgary sucked so hard, and decided to not bother playing the third period of gave seven.

I'll go with Senators in 6. Time to bring the Cup back to Canada.
