Dude, what the (BLEEP) are you talking about? This is Ring Of Honor. The fed that has raised the bar and raised it again over the past few years. I'm going to assume that your comment about "sub-par wrestling" stems from being unfamiliar with their work and the amazing wrestlers that either made their name in ROH, or are still there despite making their name. ROH is THE indie fed in North America right now and has worldwide attention from the wrestling community.
ROH isn't really coming to TV there Andrew. Not in the US at least. What this sounds like is not too different from what ROH is doing now. The shows on PPV are still going to be taped and released on the ROH website in DVD format, but the May show (which looks HUGE) from NY will be released on PPV in July. I'm glad for this. ROH has chosen to think outside the box as far as promoting their shows and being visible. They are indeed a niche product, one intended for hardcore (as in devoted) wrestling fans and not the casual. I'm glad they are not abandoning their format, just making it slightly more likely that non-hardcore fans might come across ROH.
Given the promotion's track record with, well, everything, I am pretty confident about this move by ROH. They do not seem to be sacrificing anything that makes them great, and they're not attempting to get the standard "weekly TV show" deal. ROH really can't compete with WWE, they're offering two completely different products. Shame TNA forgot that people got into THEM because they were Different from WWE... sigh.
The one serious drawback to this is not seeing ANY TNA contracted wrestlers in ROH anymore. Outside of a few matches and feuds (Joe vs Daniels vs AJ), most of the ROH guys have been given little opportunity to display exactly why they ARE so awesome. Homicide doesn't even talk, and Shelley does... what? I hope Austin Aries just quits TNA and focuses on ROH.
