7/8 in the first round, baby! Whooo! Alas, this is the round where all bets are off. That being said, I'm going with:
San Jose over Detroit, 6 games.
Anaheim over Vancouver, 6 games.
Yes, I'm totally calling a California Western Final.
Ottawa over New Jersey, 7 games.
Buffalo over New York Rangers, 6 games.
This is where it gets fun. Last round, the only hugely competitive series happened in Detroit/Calgary and Vancouver/Dallas. But I'm seeing no blowouts in this round at all. If there is an uneven series, it might be Sabres/Rangers. (Although one of the things I noticed in the last round was an underperforming Buffalo. Still enough to beat the Isles handily, but they were somewhat slacking.)
Now, what about sidebets? What's going to be the most volatile series? Which matchup will result in the most fights/penalties/suspensions?
Me, I'm saying Detroit/San Jose.

my first round picks did not go well, but I might as well try again.
Buffalo in five. - Rangers aren't going to go through these guys like they did Atlanta
Ottawa in seven - Brodeur is the bets goalie in this series. But he can't score for the Devils as well.
Vancouver in seven - This could be ugly
San Jose in seven - see above
