From what I understand, ESPN doesn't seem to think so. But yes, and it's been awesome.
Hey you're from Jersey you chump! New York used to be hockey-mad. Maybe just Rangers fans. PS: Jersey is doing well.
Chump.

I'm looking to see where/if Jason Blake, Todd Bertuzzi, and Ryan Smyth end up.
I'm hoping Smyth resigns with the Oilers. If he goes anywhere, i think a lot of Edmonton would be pretty ticked off. He is the face of the Oilers in my opinion. Much like Yzerman was in Detroit.
Blake i'd like to see in Boston, especially with their prospective team for next year. Bostons aquisition of Aaron Ward will really help Chara on Defense.
Bertuzzi i'd love to see end up in Toronto. He lives in Kitchener, and i think it'd bring great spirit for the fans and the club. He's been hurt most of this year, but i think it'll do him good to be in a hockey town like T.O.

If Bert doesn't get moved I'll be shocked. Florida can probably unload him and his salary for a couple decent picks.
What bothers me about Smyth going is that Edmonton should not HAVE to get rid of their stars anymore. Before the salary cap, Edmonton could never afford to keep any big stars they got. The great eighties team was slowly stripped away and anytime they got a good goalie or forward like Doug Weight, they could never afford to keep him. Ryan Smyth is worth a great deal of money and is right to ask for fair market value... but I hope Edmonton absolutely does not trade him and makes the deal to sign him. He IS the current face of the Oilers and to lose him will be just the biggest punch in the gut for the Oil fans this season. They will probably not make the play-offs, but if they miss the play-offs AND lose Smitty...
Brutal to be an Oilers fan.

APPARENTLY Todd Bertuzzi has been traded to Detroit Red Wings.
Gary Roberts (FLA) goes to Pittsburgh
43 minutes left, it won't be as insane a deadline day as last year.

TSN needs to hurry the hell up. I have to go to work in 20 minutes, and all these "trickle in" deals after 3 are killin me!

Breaking News that Ryan Smyth has been traded to New York Islanders. It is not CONFIRMED yet, but if that's the last minute trade...
man. I know Kevin Lowe would have tried very hard to sign Smyth, but the Oilers are not hitting the play-offs this year. What do they do next year? He's their best forward. I hope it's disproved but I don't know. Man that's depressing as an Oil fan.
They apparently couldn't reach a deal. Hopefully Ryan will come back in the fall, much as I dislike the "rental" concept.

(shoots self in the head)
No Smytty? Yup, that's one way to guarantee the Oilers playing golf in June.
Seriously, I know we were the team that came out of NOWHERE last year, but this team is hemorrhaging!

They traded Smyth for:
Ryan O'Mara - called a third liner at best
and Robert Nilson: Son of Kent Nilson (I spelled the name wrong, I'm positive, all I know is the day he was drafted, Pierre Maguire said , "What a stupid pick"
Plus a draft pick in what is said to be a very weak draft year.
But time will tell for sure how this will work out. But if Lowe traded Bergeron to clear cap space to sign Smyth, then lost Smyth anyways... Yikes. As much as I hate fans who leap on and off the bandwagon, I may have to be a bit pessimistic here.

Hold the phone. I'm not from Jersey... Kenny is from Jersey. People from NJ are stereotypical (BLEEP)s, so it fits him well.
I'm from PA, and not the hockey side either.
