Luger never held the WWF title. He had two major shots for it vs Yokozua, one ended with a DQ win, the other... Mr. Perfect was guest refereeing the match and he attacked Luger. It may or may not have been another DQ win, but I think Yoko won the match and then went on to lose the belt to Bret that same night (Wrestlemania X). www.wwe.com/inside/titlehistory/wwechampionship/Benoit is an interesting case. The very night after he won it, he jumped to WWE. WCW said that the match finish was null and void, Benoit did NOT win the match because Sid's leg was in the ropes for the finish. WCW claimed that Benoit was never the champion. I believe WWE history has said since that Benoit vacated the belt on his own terms, recognizing him as the WCW Champion. But let's recall that Benoit's entire run to the Wrestlemania title win was based on Benoit having NEVER been the top guy in a company. You could argue either way; personally I would suggest he was the champion of WCW for a brief span, vacating the belt when - as the champion - he quit the company. Which really shows either Benoit was screwed up, or WCW was.

Luger was DQ'd for dragging Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette into the ring, and for lightly shoving referee Mr. Perfect. This, of course, led to the huge feud all summer long of... oh right, the angle never went anywhere. Oh well, Bret still came out as champ

Lex's WWE run was marred by, well, THE LEX EXPRESS and AMERICAN HERO LEX LUGER.
I dunno I like some of his older WCW stuff I've seen. He's not THAT bad. Just ended up washed up and a joke.

Hey two for a drunk guy ain't bad. I still say Benoit counts. That's just me, cause had he not left WCW they would have kept it around his waist, and had a rematch for it at the next PPV which he would have won.

But Benoit didn't hold the WWE version of the World Championship until after the unification so he doesn't count for the purpose of the question asked

atually, Benoit doesn't count because he won the WHC, not the WWE title. And it was also after the merger. The answer is:
Bret Hart Hulk Hogan Randy Savage Kevin Nash Sid Vicious/Sid Justice/Syco Sid Paul Wight Ric Flair
Even though Elliot (hope that's it) Marcus Chamberlain incorrectly put Benoit, he got the seven who actually did, and did it first. So you're up dude.
Good question, no?

I didn't even think of that. Benoit won the BIG GOLD BELT, not the WWE/F Championship.
WWE's official title history for the World Heavyweight Championship starts with Triple H being handed the belt by Bischoff. They flip-flop on whether the belt is still the WCW title lineage or not over the past few years, but either way: Benoit won the Big Gold Belt vs the WWF title.

The Undertaker Texas Red The Commando The Master of Pain The Punisher "Punisher" Dice Morgan Mean Mark Callous Kane the Undertaker
