I was just curious if y'all had any particular album or artist that you listened to when you were writing promos or matches. I'm usually good to go with a little Bloc Party or some good old punk rock, but I'm itching for some new inspiration. Any suggestions?

I've stocked up on NAPW theme songs, so I can fall back on them if necessary. Lately, though, it's been a lot of classical.

When match writing, I tend to listen to a hard driving mix of music. Project 86, Demon Hunter, Blindside, a track here and there from some industrial/numetal bands. Gets me in a good vibe.
Although some days I just need some quiet background music. I wrote Rex/Dev at Epic to like, folk music. INTENSITY.

I tend to go the way of instrumental.
Red Sparowes, Pelican, Lento, Sunn0))), Tortoise.
That sort of thing.

Listen to a lot of freak-folk. Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, Akron/Family, Feathers...
Or the new Ellen Allien & Apparat album is solid electronic for writing.
I guess it's kind of relaxed music considering that...Patrick Bickle is kind of weird.

Dildo has a terrible singing voice. Soft yet grating on the ears. It's all about that sexy Tori Amos or Sarah MacLachan. Those two are some kind of yummy-beautiful. Oh, and that sultry little Shirley Manson. Gotta love the reds.
