“Hell Yeah... All the kids with the black eyes grin” A phrase that sums up the - in your face - Debut album from Ontario’s own – THE CANCER BATS
After humming around the hardcore scene for a year or two the Cancer Bats have finally released their first full length album; BIRTHING THE GIANT on Distort Inc.
Made up with the guttural phenomenon; Liam Cormier on vocals, hyperactive Andrew McCracken on Bass, supreme shredder Scotty Middleton on guitar and “Bam Bam” Mike Peters on drums, the Cancer Bats have finally made it to the hardcore dance and in fine style.
Opening the cd with a heart pounding anthem about the trials of warfare that was fittingly named GOLDEN TANKS, The Bats plug your ears straight into the stereo off the hop. Supporting tracks such as GRENADES (Which may become the “Fight Song” for the Ontario Hardcore scene.), SHILLELAGH, DEATH BROS and GHOST BUST THAT make the normal hardcore “filler” tracks look foolish.
Every track on BIRTHING THE GIANTS will have you slam dancing your way musical bliss as they round out the cd with the first line of the song PNEUMONIA HAWK that describes Liam Cormiers mindset when writing the album… “Good (BLEEP) have I got things to say and this will break your heart.”
They just may be the next big thing in Hardcore.
