Only a few of you know that this e fed thing is a hobby to me. What I spend 75% of my time on is writting scripts. Feature length movies, shorts etc. Anyway, I got this E mail today and wanted to share my next (hopefully) deal.
Hi Brion, Thanks for getting back with me and don't worry about the time delay. I'm glad you did write back because I'd still love to shoot this. I also appreciate the permission to do it. So, I guess to stop anyone else sneaking in and grabbing your script out from under me, let's say I do want to option your script. Although we're not a very big production company and don't have huge budgets to work with, I do want to be able to give proper compensation for someone's work. Making a bit of cash is part of why we do what we do, right? So, on that note, how do you want to handle any option/writing payment? Are you willing to accept a small, up-front payment and promise of a cut of any residuals that may come from film festivals or some kind of airing on cable or release on DVD? Just let me know your thoughts on that. Do have a writer's agreement that I can modify to let you look at. Also, could you do me a favor and email me the most current version of the script you have? I would appreciate it. Thanks, Ronn Smith Executive Producer Digital Vision Works, LLC.

Picture myself and Brion as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in this scenario.
Brion (Matt): Finally, I've finished the script for Good Will Hunting (aka: Brion's Fangoria Flick Script).
Aaron (Ben): Hey, uh, could you tack my name on to that?
Matt: But all you've done is sit here, smoking cigarettes and drinking all my beer!
Ben: Heh... yeah.

Hi Brion, I completely agree with your "must haves". To me those have always been 'givens' and it baffles me when I hear stories of people/production companies trying to get around no-brainers like that. As far as my budget goes for an option payment, I guess the best way to describe it would be "bare thread shoestring" (lol). I'm basically financing this out-of-pocket as a personal project and not through the company, so I'm hoping you would accept a down payment of somewhere around $200 - $250. I know that's embarrassingly low but... Although, as I mentioned before I would also include you a cut on anything I might receive in things like short film festival awards, sales to any cable/network outlets and any release on DVD (or any type of media). As of right now I don't see the need for any kind of changes to the script. An actor may wind up paraphrasing a line on-set like "How are you today, Bob?" to "Hey Bob, how are things?" but I don't see the need to change any dialogue as written. It does look like a fun script to do and I would like to have it shot by the end of next month actually. The first film festival I could see it being entered into would be at the end of this summer at Dragoncon in Atlanta. This film kind of fits the mold for that. Anyway, let me know if your agreeable to those terms above (hopefully so), I can get a contract to you to look at and we'll get this show on the road. Thanks, Ronn

You should demand a one-line part for me, Boston Dave, to begin my meteoric rise to superfame.
