I ordered that WWE 24/7 channel when it first came out, haven't really paid much attention to it until this month.
They have been playing every royal rumble ever throughout the whole month.
Which Royal Rumble is your favourite and why??
Mines 1990 where DEMOLITION threw out Andre the Giant. The groan he gave out when he fell out of the ring, priceless!!!

1992 Ric Flair winning the WWF Title WOOOOO!!! And me living in Flair Country has nothing to do with it. Another fave was the 1994 Rumble when Bret Hart got attacked by Owen and then co won it with that split Finish with Luger. I was a big Bret fan back then.

The Royal Rumble is the one WWE PPV I make a point to catch every year. The Rumble match itself is such a brilliant concept, and even bad years are usually decent.
The Royal Rumble 1992 is probably my favorite. The big highlight is Flair winning, but there is so much going on. You have Flair's #3 to the end performance, with EVERYBODY going after him. Monsoon and Heenan at the top of their games, making EVERYBODY seem like a contender. Than there's Bobby Heenan literally BEGGING God to let Flair win, promising never to do anything bad again if Flair wins, on the verge of a nervous breakdown everytime Flair teases an elimination. Randy Savage and Jake Roberts continuing their feud. The fans turning on Hogan after Hulk throws a tantrum post-elimination. And it just goes on and on. "It's The Barbarian!" "Barbian doesn't like Flair, Brain." The rest of the PPV is "okay", but The Rumble is on Flair's DVD -- BUY IT NOW.
Royal Rumble 2000 is also on the list, with Rocky winning. The Rumble is good, but the PPV itself is more known for the awesome Hardyz/Dudleyz table match (one of the first in the WWE) and my favorite match of all-time, Triple H vs CACTUS JACK Street Fight for the Title. One of the strongest PPVs during one of WWE's strongest periods, ever, for both wrestling and stories.
2001 is pretty damn good, with Jericho/Benoit LADDER MATCH (including a sick bump by Benoit), E&C vs Dudleyz, Kurt/Triple H and a KILLER Rumble with a "hardcore" segment and surprising finish. Kane shockingly eliminated Rocky, leaving the final two as Austin/Kane, and it was honestly uncertain who was going to take it (Austin did.) I was on the edge of my seat. This was six months before the Invasion turned WWE into a crapfest, which it has never quite recovered from.
Royal Rumble 2002 was when Triple H won, I believe. The highlight of the Rumble? MR. PERFECT. Not a bad show, with a great Jericho/Rock Undisputed Title match on the card. Triple H winning was pretty obvious but it was a fun, star-loaded Rumble. 2003 was Brock winning and I actually didn't see that one. 2004...
CHRIS. BENOIT.
The undercard is meh. Brock/HOLLY for the title? An underwhelming Triple H/HBK match... nothing special. BUT CHRIS BENOIT not only went from #1 to WIN, it was an excellent, well-booked and entertaining Rumble. That match alone is worth a rental.
And 2005's was pretty decent. Triple H/Orton I enjoyed, personally. Decent undercard and a pretty darn good Rumble with a fast-pace. Batista/Cena's showdown at the end was MONEY.
Yeah. I heart the Rumble. This year I'm interested, because quite honestly? For once it's not telegraphed completely. There are numerous winners that would make sense to involve in the main event at Wrestlemania. Rey vs Angle. Orton vs Angle. Cena as a surprise entrant after losing to Edge gaining another shot. Triple H is a contender, but I'm truly hoping they work him into a WM main event some other way...he just doesn't seem like a good choice to win. HBK is a possibility. Or maybe they'll take a chance on somebody who is getting over but not really in the main event yet. Edge/Cena will hopefully be a good match.
I'm done. =D

I have the 1990 and 1992 Rumbles on video...the 1990 one was alright...the rumble match itself was fine, but you knew Hogan was gonna win. The rest of the event was just god awful though, I fast forward through most of it. 1992 was by far the best. Top to bottom, awesome event. The rumble match was awesome. Heenan was at his absolutely BEST... "this isn't fair to Flair!"... "thank you Roddy! I never thought I'd say it, but thank you Roddy! It's not a skirt, it's a kilt!"...two seconds later, Piper hits Flair... "it's not a kilt, it's a skirt!" hahaha 1999 was a good one too, when Vince McMahon won it. Plus there was Rock vs Mankind in the I Quit Match where Foley took 78497982792 chair shots. 1997 was a good one as well, when Austin was eliminated by Bret Hart, but the refs didn't see it so Austin climbed back in and won. And of course 1994, when Hart and Luger hit the floor at the same time...set the stage for WM10, which was a great event. (I just bought the WrestleMania Anthology...just watched WM10 )

1990 Rumble is the first one I actually owned. I still love the warrior?hogan face off. Forget all the crap said about the Warrior recently. That showdown was HUGE!
1992 so much great psychology, and the first chance I really got to see Flair work his magic
1994 the first double elimination/who won? mystery. it's been done to death since, but this was such a great ending
2000 the match was okay, but I'll never forget Foley/HHH
2004 BENOIT WINS!! The group I was with went nuts that night. Having met Benoit in person, I was proud to say I marked out like crazy that night.
2005 was cool. I watched it after Eddie passed away. Seeing him and Benoit spar, team up to eliminate someone, then spar again was great. The ending sucked. But it wasn't planned. Batista apparently screwed up (and actually hit the floor first!) since the show was running long, MacMahan ran out to fix things, then ripped his quad. Granted , watching Vince sit there and act like nothing happened, GOLD!
Looking forward to this years. And if ANYONE has a tape of the Very first Royal Rumble (1988, it was on Cable TV, Not PPV) please let me know as I have never seen it.

All I'll say is that everything I know about leverage, I learned from Chris Benoit a few years back.

The actual most memorable royal rumble for me was the 2001 royal rumble.
Id only been watching wrestling for aabout 9 months prior to that.
But I had already watched the 89, 94, 97,99 00 royal rumbles and couldnt wait to watch it.
Living in England however its shown at 1am and i had school the next day so i didnt stay up and watch it. But my dad did shift work and watched it at work and already told me austin won in it the next day and I was like doh!
and then later on in school everyone was talknig about it and i practically knew what had happened before Id even seen it.
It was the first one I watched as it was unfolding but |I still think it was the best Ive seen.
It was shocking to see The Big Show return, a great cameo by the honky tonk man and also Haku returned! Absolutely great, and you got the two best superstars of all time involved the rock and austin.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Drew Carey's amazing Royal Rumble performance.

He eliminated both the Hardy Boyz, doncha know.
Actually, drew's entrance into the rumble was shockingly well-booked and entertaining. Drew Carey trying to buy off Kane...
Classic.

That same rumble match gave us Kane versus Honky Tonk Man, in all of its hilarious glory.
One of the few REALLY funny WWE matches.

And when he says funny, I'm sure he means "No SERIOUSLY, it was legitimately funny and clever."
As opposed to the usual "funny" WWE matches. Which are not funny AT ALL.

I need to watch more of Ravager's Colt Cabana stuff. He's had a title match with Jimmy Jacobs that's just. Frickin'. GREAT. He's solid as a wrestler and FUNNY, IN-RING, to boot. If the "E" was serious about "entertainment", they'd give this guy his due.

Colt Cabana vs Spanky. That's all you really need to know. Well that and the brilliant ring strategy of Cabana to chop and kick Spanky's most vulnerable body part, which was apparently his ass. (yeah, I know, but to hear the announcers try to justify it like that was almost as funny as the match)
And as much as I want to see Cabana in WWE, I worry that they would screw it up, considering what they consider funny. (Oh Tim White, you and your wacky suicide attempts!)
