NAPW.ca is proud to bring you an exclusive interview with the New and Improved D-X. Click here to view.
(Clicking on the link brings up a Quicktime video where we see JOSH REYNOLDS, NAPW's most charismatic (and only) backstage interviewer, is standing in a hallway, talking into the camera.)
JOSH REYNOLDS: Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to NAPW...dot cee ay! My name is Josh Reynolds, and I'm here waiting for the former Tag Team Champions, the New and Improved D-X, to come out and answer a few questions. The past few weeks have been the roughest in D-X's time here in the NAPW, seeing them not only lose two matches in a row, but the coveted title belts as well. Add to that the surprising dismissal of their long-time manager, "Coach" Gordon Jago, and you have a team in turmoil...and here comes one half of the former champs, Bruce Richards!
(Camera pulls back to bring BRUCE "THE BEAST" RICHARDS into the frame as he walks up to the comparatively smaller interviewer. He is clad, as usual, in his black duster and cowboy hat.)
JOSH REYNOLDS: Bruce, nice to see you here, but...where's Stylin' Kyle?
THE BEAST: Well, Josh, it seems that the chair shot Kyle took to the head was a little more severe than we'd originally thought. He passed out last night for about 10 minutes, and when the Coach and I took him to the hospital, he'd been diagnosed with a Class 3 concussion, with delusions and some minor memory loss. They're keeping him at the hospital for observation.
JOSH REYNOLDS: Well, I'm sorry to hear that, Bruce, but I'll just do my interview with you, then. My first question to you is: given all the things that have happened to D-X over the past week, do you feel that you're coming to the point where you can get any momentum back?
THE BEAST: Look, Kyle and I have had a rough week, no doubt about it. Are we happy about losing two matches in a row? No. Are we happy about suspending the Coach? Definitely no. Are we happy about losing our Title Belts? HELL no. But everyone has their ups and downs, and I think that time will tell that this was the time that D-X was known as the Once And Future champs, and the Dudes will be forgotten, except for three people desperately trying to deny the horrible truth: that they just couldn't cut it in this company.
JOSH REYNOLDS: Well, Bruce, that's certainly...optimistic of you. Some people would say that the only reason you held on to the titles so long is because it wasn't until the Dudes showed up that you were given a little competition. What would you say to that?
THE BEAST: Anyone who thinks we didn't work hard to get these belts needs to step into the ring and fight a match with either one of us, and we'll show you just how hard we work, day in and day out. As far as the Dudes are concerned, the day I get my career handed to me by two failed pledges from Gamma Gamma Gamma and a kick-flipping high-school dropout is the day that the NAPW starts being run by a circus monkey...although now that I think about it, has anyone seen Bob Winchell lately?
JOSH REYNOLDS: Bruce, how well is Coach Jago taking his early retirement?
THE BEAST: Josh, we didn't fire the Coach; he's been with us our entire career, and we think that he was given too much, too quckly. As a manager, the Coach was out of his depth, in a role that was far beyond his capabilities. He's still the best trainer in all of Canada, and we'd be fools to throw him to the dogs because he failed at a job he wasn't cut out for.
JOSH REYNOLDS: Well, I for one am glad to hear that you had it in your heart not to kick him to the curb.
THE BEAST: This isn't a personal decision, Josh, it's business. Heart had nothing to do with it.
JOSH REYNOLDS: Still, I think that the loss of Coach Jago would have been felt by many a NAPW staff member. Finally, how do you feel about this Monday's match that has you teaming up with Rex Caliber, one half of the team that beat you this last Thursday night?
THE BEAST: While I'm not exactlly best friends with Rex, in my mind, he and Static are the lesser of two evils. Kyle and I have a re-match for our title against the Dudes, in January and that's where my focus is. My goal for Monday night is to get the win, break Mike Johnston so hard that he won't have enough time over the holiday break for any good rehab, and maybe get a few good shots in at The Immortal while I'm at it. That guy seriously disturbs me.
JOSH REYNOLDS: Because of his terrifying presence?
THE BEAST: No, because of his terrifying singing voice. (Shudders)
JOSH REYNOLDS: Well, Bruce, I want to thank you for your time today, and please convey my best wishes to Stylin' Kyle for a speedy recovery. (Camera pulls in closer, pushing THE BEAST out of frame, and a tight focus on JOSH REYNOLDS.)
