Looks like there have been a bunch of new apps! That's awesome. I am currently on vacation, I will update the webpage with all complete new applications on January 29-30.
Second of all, it's rad to see a lot of rps even during this week off. Do take time off though guys. =)
I want to talk about kayfabe, or keeping in character. Recently a roleplay was posted by "Jacob," who is not an NAPW wrestler but the handler of several. It was essentially a personal response to comments made by NAPW Champion Chris Casino. I can't stress this enough: Chris Casino is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. A character who says things about Canada because he is a HEEL and wants to get HEAT on himself. I consider it a serious breach of kayfabe(character) to respond to Casino's comments in that manner. It breaks the illusion that the NAPW is a real wrestling promotion and it does not make any sense for some random person to be promoing on NAPW television regarding the CHAMPION.
While the person in question subsequently submitted an application for a wrestler by that name, I am refusing that application on the grounds of breaking kayfabe. Furthermore, I am to understand that insulting private messages were being delievered to Chris Casino by this individual. What is occuring is not a fight on the RP board by two competitors looking for a feud or a match, but a character versus a real person, with private insults occuring. This is not acceptable.
If you CANNOT separate in your mind the fiction of NAPW and the reality of real life, that you are a person playing a fictional character, than you are in the wrong place. Heels are going to say mean things. It's their JOB.
There are certain elements of a character that I consider out of bounds. Murder, rape, etc etc. Those are covered by the rules. I am very quick to point out when rules have been broken and let the offender know it shouldn't happen again. If you are finding yourself, however, offended personally by comments a wrestler is making about your character PLEASE REMEMBER: They are making them about your CHARACTER, not YOU. If you feel somebody is personally attacking you, than talk to me or approach them privately.
Please keep kayfabe (stay in character) on the promo board at all times. Remember that this is just a game, it is not real life, and what people say is not to be taken personally 99% of the time. There are rules to this game to provide for it's function and handling. Thank you.
