Backstage after the last NAPW show. Lex Vain has walked through the curtain, storming out as the fans sing him off. Ravager watches from a distance.
Ravager: Well, there goes the last bastion of impartial journalism.
Ravager turns and walks away, only to stop as he notices one of the NAPW staff working on his laptop. A picture of Ravager and Kryenik facing off is being photo shopped onto a Sole Survivor II logo.
Ravager: I appreciate the show of faith, but it's a bit early for that, don't you think?
Staff Guy: What, don't think you're going to make the match?
Ravager: Of course I think I'm going to make the match. It's just a slap in the face to Simply Beautiful to be making the poster, you know, before he gets his shot.
Staff Guy: So what? You already beat him.
Ravager: There's a title on the line this time.
Staff Guy: So?
Ravager: So? The last fight was for pride. Recognition. Respect. But we can screw all that now that the big belt is up for grabs. He's been a champion already. He lost the title under dubious circumstances. He's gone through hell to get to this spot. But I've gone through just a bit more. And I have to work harder to keep this belt around my waist. So the last thing I need is for you to give him extra motivation. He sees that poster, he's going to think I'm looking past him. He's going to want to prove me wrong. He'll punch harder, move faster, and show even less mercy. And he's a tough enough opponent already.
Staff Guy: So if this poster goes up, you think he'll beat you for the title?
Ravager: I never said that. I didn't get this far by fluke. I can beat Simply Beautiful. I just don't think he should be slapped in the face like that. Save the poster until after the match Tuesday.
Staff Guy: Fine. Whatever.
Ravager walks off muttering.
Ravager: Jump the gun and make us all look like idiots...
Cut to later on. We are in Ravager's apartment. he is packed up and ready to travel to his next show.
April 17th. Ravager versus Casino. Finally. Title for title (barring a loss by either competitor). A years worth of aggression about to be unleashed in the middle of the ring. But first...
March 28th. Toronto, Ontario. Ravager versus Kryenik. The first singles meeting between two of the NAPW's top stars. two different styles. Two different personalities. Two men who want to be THE man in NAPW. Whoever stands tall at Sole Survivor II gets the right to make that claim. But first...
Tuesday. Simply Beautiful. I hope you don't feel neglected. After all, you earned your title shot. You've beaten some of the best NAPW has to offer. You've stepped up when needed. You stepped up when I asked. You gave me a hell of a fight back in January. You will be NAPW champion. I'm sure of that. But you won't get the belt from me. Not this week. Not ever. You're not quite in my league yet. You got the attitude, but not the all around skill. You're good. Damn good.
But you're not better than me. You don't have as much to prove as me. You don't have all eyes on you, waiting for you to take your big fall. I got by my first title defense against a man many felt I couldn't beat. Now people are thinking that I may be setting myself up to upset by you. I already have one upset loss this month. And on any given night, any one man can beat another. That's why I have to show no mercy. That's why I have to treat every match like it's a Pay Per View Main Event. That's why I can never look down on any opponent. Not that I ever looked down on you. But I have beaten you before. And I'm sure you'd hate for that to happen again. I'm sure the fire burns deep inside you... But it's just not hot enough. Sorry kid. Your time will come. It just won't be this week.
Nothing personal.
Ravager goes back to packing.
