Fade in. Leo Mack, sitting in the back room of a corner bistro, somewhere in the streets of Calgary. It's quiet, and cozy. It's almost like sitting in your grandmother's own living room, but not quite.
He's wearing one of his finest suits, and has what's left of his hair combed neatly. A half-full glass of Merlot sits in front of him, as we waits for his dinner to come. Across from him is another glass of wine, though this one is white and has lipstick smeared on the edge.
Mack: You know, it's nice to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the finer things in life. It's great to eat a well-prepared meal, to sip some fine wine, and to partake in the company of a beautiful woman. It helps me to focus on the task at hand, knowing that at the other end of the tunnel I have nights like these waiting for me after all the hard work I put myself through.
Nowadays, however, I can rest a little easier. Because my boys are vigilant. All they do is prepare. And train. And focus their entire beings on winning. They were upset last week. Perhaps knocked a bit off course on the road to the titles. But at the Road to Glory, they'll right the ship when the Royal Foundation comes into town. I just know it.
A woman walks back over to the table and sits down, and we fade out into...
CUT TO Santiago and Sakai, in their full ring attire. They stand together on one side of a very busy Calgary intersection.
Sakai: (in Japanese) Crossing a street so busy would be foolish, to say the least. Look here, there's not even a slight break in the traffic. One care after the next, each trying to set world records it seems on their way to Heavens knows what.
Santiago: El peligro aquí está evidente. ¿Por qué no espera hasta que más tarde, cuando el tráfico se ha apagado, para cruzar?
Sakai: (in Japanese) Because what we want waits for us on the other side. These cars - mere obstacles. With the right timing (steps off the curb and onto the street - a car barely misses him) and with careful precision (takes a step back to avoid a motorcylist) One can avoid any obstacles, no matter how big or how (moves past another car, sidesteps one more, and then steps back to avoid a bus) small, and can finally reach that goal that summoned them in the first place. (handsprings onto the curb on to other side, narrowly avoiding an SUV in the process)
Santiago: Pero después de un rato, nosotros vemos que los obstáculos fueron todo en nuestra mente (suddenly by some camera trick all the cars vanish from the screen leaving an empty street) - y una vez ellos han sido quitados del retrato, son la navegación fácil a la victoria.
Santiago smiles, and strolls across the street as the scene comes to its final
fade.
