Monologue
In everyman’s life there are a few moments they can remember as clear as day. Those moments where the clouds are all cleared away and the blue sky shines clear and free for those memories to dance upon. Like a paintbrush on a easel, we remember everything that happed on those days. What is it that makes us remember? What is it that brands those special moments into our personal skyline? Is it a tragedy? Is it a triumph? Is it an event so miraculous that at that moment, we actually felt like we touched God and fell softly into a bed a feather pillows?
It’s all of those. It is everything. It is the world of opposites but for that reason, we will remember those days. We will never forget the greatest of victories. We will never forget the biggest disappoints. However the only thing that makes any sense anyway, is how clearly you can remember. How clearly you can make everyone else remember.
Can you make the people forget your worst day, in exchange for your best day? Can you bring those fans to their feet and make them praise you, even though other days they have hated you. Can you have them cheer your name as you finally break the cycle of disappointment? I can. I’m Billy Cryonic, and I can my skyline is clear now. The monkey on my back has finally been kicked off and I can bring those people to their feet.
I can walk down that isle and carve and claw my special memory into the heads of those people who came to make their own. I will showcase. I will survive. I will scar my future memories into the bank of my opponent’s heads.
This is My Time.
I will NOT let them down.
I will be victorious.
[The camera begins to role outside of an unnamed hotel in Kamloops British Columbia. Billy Kryenik is dressed in his winter jacket, blue jeans, gloves and winter hat. The day is fairly normal, with the sun shining over a beautiful scene.
Billy sticks his arm out as a taxicab drives up. The cab drives up besides him and he opens the backdoor, getting in slowly.
He sits in the back of the cab quietly while the cab driver writes down his pick up. He looks into the review mirror and makes eye contact with Billy. He nods slightly, waiting for instructions.]
Billy: Warunees Thai Restaurant, please.
Cab Driver: No Problem.
[Billy closes his car door and gets comfortable into the leather seats.]
Billy: I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been pretty busy lately with other things and I haven’t had the time to comment on anything since I won the Canada Cup. Call it negligence or call it what you will, but truth be told – I haven’t had anything to say. You know why that is? With all that is going down… With the Untouchables causing havoc across the company… With Winchell screwing the Doomrider Tommy Deathrow out of the Provincial Title… With me winning the Canada Cup… and Now a four-corner survival match between three men who have been belles off the ball before.
And I had nothing to say until now. I will break my weeklong silence...
[Billy clears his throat of all nervousness. He scrunches his nose up to even out his face.]
Billy: The reason I have had nothing to say is simple. I am humbled right now. I am in a moment where peace has taken over all anger… That is to say, I was. I was in a place where peace was reigning as king and I was left to think about what has happened, what is happening and what will happen in the future. You see I have a big responsibility right now. Right now I am in a position that I have only dreamed of being in. I have a ticket to the top whenever I so choose to cash that. I have an opportunity to go for the top prize in this company, one that I have always dreamed of getting too… but never achieving. But now I can. Imagine how humbling that makes me feel. Knowing that for once I set my sights on a goal, and I got there. I went out and I earned every ounce of what I’m going to get… finally. Finally I’ve earned it. Finally I can sit in a room by myself and I can smile to myself without a moment of regret for something I didn’t do.
[His phone rings, telling him of a new text message. It’s from Mike, one of his number one fans. Billy disregards the message, getting back on topic.]
Billy: Some may tell me that I am being ridiculous. Some people, even Tommy, thinks that I should celebrating and hitting up every town I can to show off the ticket that I’ve received… But I can’t. There is no time to celebration yet. I can’t jump the gun and tell everyone that I’ve completed the cycle, because I haven’t. I haven’t proven my point yet. I’ve scratched the surface, yes… I have made an impact and I have made my intentions clear, but I haven’t closed the deal yet. That will come in time. I have to wait for my opportunity to take on the champion… and that’s ok. Even if outside forces like Chris Casino want to take it upon them and make a complaint on my behalf.
It was a week or so ago, Chris. Do you remember? You were so keen on letting the world know that NAPW was going to (BLEEP) with me and not let me take on the champion… because of some Canadian Hierarchy or other Backstage Politic. But you know what Chris… I see what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to lour everyone into your game of fraud. You’re preaching lies and treachery to the people and you expect me to sit back and believe the bullshit that comes out of your mouth!? You need to take your place, Casino. You need to be humbled, like I was. Unfortunately you don’t have the brain capacity to be humbled by a great victory. Sadly for you, the only way you’d even come close to being humbled, is when someone… or ME… kicks the living shit out of you for spreading these hateful lies against a company and a country that made you a (BLEEP)ing star.
That’s right Chris, I said it. You were nothing before you came here. You had your money, you had your power, but you didn’t have the same pride that you have now. You didn’t shine as brightly as you do now. That my friend, was NAPW’s doing and maybe you should take some time to think about what other have done for you without putting in the word “I” in the center of it. You are a great wrestler Chris, don’t get me wrong, but your lies and hatred really put a black stripe down your back you have no appreciation, no respect and no caring for anyone or any entity that has helped you along your way. You’re a legend… but who made you a legend? NAPW. You’ve held championships… but whose titles were they? NAPW’s. You’ve made a career out of bashing opponents left and right… but who gave you those opportunities? NAPW. Now you sit there and you complain about a hierarchy when you also have Joey Winchell in your back pocket? That doesn’t make any sense Chris. You don’t seem to know where you’re going with this whole thing. Maybe you think your some sort of Messiah? Maybe you think that the work you do will lead all of the fallen and the broken into Nirvana.
[Billy sneers his mouth in disgust.]
Billy: But I beg to differ Chris. I don’t think you’re worth anything here anymore. I think that you’re just so (BLEEP)ing selfish that your willing to (BLEEP) over, manipulate and play with any feeble mind that will pay attention to your kicking and screaming. You want that heavyweight title back… You want to be the man here. It (BLEEP)ing kills you on the inside to know that I have a title shot before you do. Doesn’t it? You can’t cope with that right now… Because you’ve never beaten me buddy. You’ve had the opportunity to beat me before and you came up short. So you know what I think? I think the reason behind those lies you spread is out of jealousy and fear.
You don’t know if you can beat me, because you never have. If I win that heavyweight title… which I have all scouted to do so… You may never get that title back. When it comes down to it, I have proven to be the better wrestler. There fact behind my claims and I sleep easy at night knowing that the time when my mouth was dry, and I couldn’t swallow out of fear of losing too you, I gulped it down anyway and I took that victory. So go ahead Chris, make your (BLEEP)ing claims. Tell the people why you deserve the heavyweight title; it makes no (BLEEP)ing different to me. I could give a shit less about what opportunity belong to you. I will give you a shot if I win that title. I will let you try once more, because I know first hand – that everyone deserves a second chance. You too, Chris. Yes… even you. You deserve a second chance, but make sure it’s the right chance. I don’t want you to fight the champion, without it being I that you’re facing. Luckily I get to take out this frustration I have for you and your petty little games, at Cold Snap. Thankfully I have an opportunity to bring pain to you in ways that the creators of SAW could only dream of. It’s falls count anywhere Chrissy boy and that’s my territory. That is my specialty… The Doomriders thrive in atmospheres where there’s no such thing as rules… Ask the Delivery Men… if you can find them. They’ll tell you first hand Chris.
[Suddenly Billy Kryenik’s phone rings. The cab driver continues to go through a set of lights as they turn amber. He pulls his phone out of his pocket, opening it quickly.]
Billy: Hello? – Oh hey Tommy what’s up (BLEEP)shine. – Cool, I’m just on my way to grab a bite to eat. You down? – Sweet I’ll be at the Warunees Thai Restaurant on Tranquille Rd. – Meet me there in about 10 minutes. – Cool. See you then.
[Billy shuts his phone and puts it back into his pocket.]
Billy: Sorry about that… But enough about Chris Casino. I’ve heard his name so much lately that it only angers me more to talk about him. If he wants to bitch and moan, I’ll make sure to sew his mouth shut and break his jaw. Then we’ll see how much talking he can do… through a (BLEEP)ing air tube. So now what? Kenny Krenshov? Kurt Castle? The rest of the Untouchable threesome? What are they doing now? Krenshov is still being the big stink and Castle escaped last Tuesday with his title, after Tommy beat him fair and square. That was the most bullshit call I’ve seen since I got back. Winchell, if you think for one second that reversing the decision hurt Deathrow in anyway, you’re (BLEEP)ing wrong. If anything, you’ve angered an animal that inhaled rage and exhales hells. This reversed decision only stops him for a little while, Joey. It doesn’t stop him forever. You can’t protect Castle the entire time… and if we have too – We’ll meet him in the backstage, even if he feels as snug as a bug and as safe as an inmate in the Untouchables locker room… He will still feel as though he lost his title. Maybe not physically, but mentally he will know that the Doomriders will and can take that title away from him at anytime. I showed him in the finals a few weeks ago what happens when you mess with a Doomrider… then he felt it again the next week… But yet he still has his title. But he doesn’t have his pride. A man like him knows no such thing as pride, only fear and muscle strain… from looking behind him as he’s running away. You’re running scared Castle. Lucky for you, you’re not involved in the street fight… You’re safe – for now. For now… Until Bruno takes you to your breaking point and he takes that title from you. It’s going to be a (BLEEP)ing sad day for you… but a great day for anyone who is fighting against you and your brigade of goons.
[The cab driver coughs softly, trying not to interfere with the one on one with the camera. Billy however, pays him no mind as he looks out the window, talking into it.]
Billy: But onto the task at hand. Onto what is undoubtedly one of my biggest matches of my career this Tuesday. This week I get the opportunity to defeat two former champions and the current one in a four corners survival match. It’s not for the title, but it’s for something that may be more important that the title… it’s for pride. It’s already been proven that you do not need pride to be a champion… (Casino and Castle?) so in essence it doesn’t matter whether the title is on the line or not. What a matter is I take advantage of the opportunity that lay at my feet. Not only did I win the Canada Cup, guaranteeing me a chance at the gold, I also get the chance to prove why I should be facing the champ in the future. You see Chris? NAPW is about opportunity, and they treat me well. This company is more than you think. They may have booked the title matches for a while, but they still grant me the chance to work my way there. I wouldn’t=’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to face any other men for this opportunity either. Just look at whom I have the privilege to get into the ring with…
[The cab driver takes a quick right, throwing Billy off his seat slightly. The cab driver chuckles slightly.]
