The scene opens up with a simple room, the lights are dim and Jeff James sits in a steel chair, His title is laid out on the floor... The camera cuts to an overhead view of the title
Narrative Voice: The NAPW TV Title... One of the most majestic and sought for titles in NAPW. It has been captured by many incredible athletes during its time... Its been held by the likes of Lobo, Don Travelli, Uzi, Lloyd Rees and the Yellow Chicken. Yet its been captured by lesser athletes, like Predator, Wayne Wright and Mr. Slick.
The TV Title holds many stories and today we shall go into one particular story...The story of Jeff James, a man who has helped make the TV Title what it is today.
His story starts back in September of 2006. Jeff James was coming off against a huge lost and in an act of anger challenged both Mr. Slick and Wayne Wright to a Triple Threat Match for the NAPW TV Title.
Mr. Slick hoping to reign supreme in a division he believed was his made a mistake by accepting Jeff's challenge... And his dreams ended a little like this.
Wayne Wright's submission is locked on... and the Double has nowhere to go! The Double eyes the ropes, they're so far away! Jeff James props himself up, looks at Wright and the Double, then keeps looking around--he sees Saki, who tells him which side of the ring to get to! Saki dives under the OTHER side, screaming and swinging his bat... the Double's hand is quavering... Mr. Slick BAILS out from under the ring and climbs back in to get away from Saki--BUT STRAIGHT INTO THE JAMES EFFECT! James BLASTED Mr. Slick... BUT IT'S TOO LATE! THE DOUBLE TAPS... ANDREWS ISN'T COUNTING IT! He remembers the busted lip! JAMES COVERS THE REAL DEAL... ONE! TWO! THREE! Wayne Wright looks ready to cry... but the NEW TV CHAMPION IS JEFF JAMES!
Narrative Voice: Mr. Slicks era of TV Title dominance had come to a bitter end, but for Jeff James his story had just begun.
Mr.Slick would be given one last opportunity to re-establish his TV Title dominance but Jeff James was no easy competitor and even though Mr. Slick fought his heart out...He was no match for Jeff James.
Then one eventful night Jeff James had his story cut shot.
His TV Title reign barely lasted and he tasted bitter defeat...At the hands of the Yellow Chicken...
Shooting Star Legdrop...MISSES! The Yellow Chicken rolls out of the way! And THEN HE LOCKS ON THE CROSS-FACE CHICKEN WING! Jeff James' right arm has taken a beating throughout this match? The Yellow Chicken's pecking at his opponent's head! Can Jeff James hold on? NO HE CAN NOT!! Jeff James taps out and The Yellow Chicken is the new TV Champ!
Narrative Voice: Cockiness was his demise and he knew it. Yet he kept telling forcing himself to believe a lie...That his loss to the Yellow Chicken was nothing but a fluke, that he was played and that in a matter of minutes he'd get his title back...Something extremely easy to believe, yet nearly impossible to accomplish.
For you see, Yellow Chicken would defend his title against Brian Bruno. A fierce competetor...But even though he did everything he could possibly do...He lost.
Yet on that same episode of Action! On September 29th 2006 Jeff James faced off against 3 other athletes in a number 1 contender match for the TV Title...And then this happens.
Dex climbs to the top. Shooting Star Press connects! Dex goes for the pin. One! Jeff James manages to get to the top rope himself. Two! James LAUNCHES himself into the air, it's a moonsault! Thr-OW! Knees to the back of Dextro as James turned his moonsault into a double knee drop! That's gotta hurt! Dextro is writhing in pain, and rolls out of the ring. It's just Jeff James and one dazed Mr. Slick. James Effect! James drops for the cover. One! Two! Dex is trying his best to crawl back in the ring, but it's too late! Three! Jeff James has pinned Mr. Slick, and is going to meet the Television Champion at Hostile Hangover!
Narrative Voice: Jeff James gets the chance of a lifetime... A chance to go against the very man who beat him in a "fluke" victory during the beginning of september...
Then before we knew it the night came. October 11th 2006.
Jeff James gets his rematch against the Yellow Chicken. He would finally be able to show the world that he was good enough to be the TV Title...Little did he know, the night would turn out like this.
James takes a swing at Yellow Chicken! He misses! Yellow Chicken GRABS HIS ARM, and drags him down to the mat! CROSS-FACE CHICKEN-WING!
James is screaming in pain, but he won't tap! He's tapped out to this move before, where is he finding the strength to not give up? Yellow Chicken PECKS AT HIM, wrenches back, but Jeff James just yells ÒNO! NO! NO
And then the referee calls for the bell!
Narrative Voice: You may think he tapped out...But thats not how this night would end, this night would end with one of the biggest shockers in the NAPW TV Title division...Yellow Chicken would retain the TV Title...
FRANK WARBURTON: Ladies and gentlemen, the following match has been ruled a TIME LIMIT DRAW! Therefore, the title does NOT change hands, and the Yellow Chicken is STILL the NAPW Television Champion!
Narrative Voice: Via a Time Limit Draw...If Jeff James didn't think his loss was a fluke then, he was furious by now.
Yet he didn't handle it like we thought he would...Jeff James changed, in a way noone expected.
He was granted a Title Match at Anniversary Assault, one of the greatest matches in the TV Title division...
So when October 31st 2006 came about, Jeff James shocked us once again.
The Royal Foundation are in their locker room, sans Saki (who is likely still in jail.) Mr. B, Prince Darko, Thomas Young, Jeff James planning strategy.
MR. B: So when you want us to come out and blast Chicken, I want you to give us this signal! Got it Jeff?
JEFF JAMES: (BLEEP) that.
THOMAS YOUNG: What are you talking about, man?
JEFF JAMES: I get help to beat this guy then I don't prove nothing. I gotta do this alone... not with you, bro, not with you Darko, not with you Mr. B you jackass. This match tonight, this is gonna be Jeff James... versus The Yellow Chicken... and only the best man is gonna walk out with the TV title belt.
Narrative Voice: What is this? Jeff James went and gave up the assistance of a lifetime. Jeff James actually wanted to "wrestle" the Yellow Chicken...Yet wrestling was an ability that earned the Yellow Chicken an 8-win winning streak. Then Jeff James went out that night...and from the second his music hit to the second the match ended, Jeff James gave it his all, he was pushed to limits he never expected on reaching and he definitely pushed the Yellow Chickens limits...Then what we least expected, actually happened.
BILL HEWSON: GERMAN SUPLEX! UNBELIEVABLE IMPACT, I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE SO STIFF IN MY LIFE!
BRIDGE COVER!
ONE!
TWO!
THRE-
NO! JUST TWO!
At the LAST POSSIBLE SPLIT-SECOND James got a shoulder up off the mat! Yellow Chicken is dazed, James' upper torso slammed down on his forehead pretty hard. Chicken takes some deep breaths, wondering what it's going to take... he starts to pick James up off the mat but...
INSIDE CRADLE!
ONE!
TWO!
...THREEEEEE!
FRANK WARBURTON: Here is your winner... and NEWWWWW TELEVISION CHAMPIONNNNN! JEFF JAAAAAAMES!
Narrative Voice:Well, there you have it! The fluke Jeff James spoke about for so long was proven true that night...Yet Jeff James no longer believed it to be a fluke. Jeff James had become a new man, the Yellow Chicken changed the way Jeff James thought, the way he wrestled. Jeff James would leave that night the TV Champion but he had a new goal in mind...He did want to be the greatest TV Champion alive but he also wanted to do what the Yellow Chicken did for him, he set out to aid wrestlers in becoming better, by pushing them to their limits and giving them the wrestling match of their lives.
Jeff James would go on to defend his TV Title against Brian Bruno, Matthew Kurtis, Dio Muerte and Chad Kurtis.
Although embarrassed by how he retained his title to Chad Kurtis Jeff has not let it faze him. Instead Jeff has lost some trust in his Foundation allies...
Then he was booked in a match that noone saw coming.
On December 12th 2007 Jeff James was teamed up with Dio Muerte and the two faced the reigning tag team champions The new and Improved DX... and this time the duo shocked the world.
The Beast rushes into the ring however, catching James with a Cobra Clutch...Bomb. He turns around however into THE DEMORTALIZER! Dio Muerte out of NOWHERE with his flipping DDT on The Beast! That leaves Kyle Roberts and Jeff James in the ring alone. Kyle is first to his feet, no playin' now, he hoists Jeff James up for the Emerald Fusion. Wait a minute, James gets free. Kyle turns around, boot to the gut... THE JAMES EFFECT connects. Kyle is down, he is out, Jeff James makes the cover NEW CHAMPIONS ONE TWO TH---
Narrative Voice: Most people would expect that to be a Three count...Which is what it would have been, if it wasn't for the Midnight Cowboys.
STONE ZELLOR! And Clint Zellor! The Midnight Cowboys attacking Jeff James from behind in full view of the referee. They hoist James up, Staten Special! BOOM. Kiebiech is signalling for the bell, and The Midnight Cowboys roll out. The Assassins and Foundation have realized what's going on as Frank Warburton makes the announcement. Your winners, by disqualification, Jeff James and Dio Muerte! The titles do not change hands on a DQ... it's still D-X vs The Midnight Cowboys on Tuesday Night Fights with the belts on the line! The Cowboys know exactly what they just did. D-X rides into TNF with their belts intact but a hard loss on the books...
Narrative Voice: DX retained their titles that night. Yet they did lose to the team of Dio Muerte and Jeff James. Only god knows how that match would of turned out if it wasn't for the Midnight Cowboys. Yet Jeff James only shrugged the loss off.
He may dislike DX a little, but never will you catch him insulting their wrestling and tag team abilities.
But now we reach the end of Jeff James' story. No, its not that kind of end. Its just something we haven't reached yet. For you see this is a growing legacy. Jeff James will defend his TV title for the fifth time December 19th 2007 on Friday Night Action!
Jeff James will be squaring off against Nightmare. A man out for gold. Yet many men have had that as their reason for title hunting. But a majority of them come back without it.
You hear static and the voice comes to a halt, the camera (still showing the TV Title) begins to move up and it Jeff James is now in the picture. He's leaning forward, his arms rest upon his lap. His hair is untied and is hanging, his breathing is heard, soft steady breaths. He is meditating, making sure his mentality is at 100% for what might be one of the hardest title defenses of his NAPW career.
Jeff James: (in a very calm low voice) Nightmare, I hope your ready for our match this Friday night. You want to speak high and mighty of yourself...But you see, cockiness only brings defeat.
My mentality has reached 100% and I advise you to expect the unexpected...
The camera shows the TV Title once more
Jeff James: (very calm, low voice) Look at this title closely Nightmare... Maybe take a picture... Because this is as close as your ever going to get.
