(Camera fades into a room full of children, a few on crutches, some in hospital beds. A tall, well dressed man is bent over talking to a kid, facing away from the camera.)
MAN: Now, Pedro, you should get back to bed. The doctor will be ready to treat your leukemia very soon.
(The child runs offscreen. The man stands up, turns around and notices the camera.)
KYLE ROBERTS: Oh, hi! I'm Kyle Roberts, part of the NAPW tag team champions, The New and Improved DX. You've caught me visiting the Stollery Children's Hospital, making sure that all my little fans are getting the treatment they deserve.
In fact, we've even got a special section of the hospital for my charges, "Kyle's Kinder." Catchy, no?
Yup, Stacey Smyth, one of the Oiler wives, and I go WAY back, and she asked me to donate some time to help the children.
(A little girl runs up with a book for Kyle to read. Roberts pushes her offscreen.)
Of course I said I would. It's every adult's responsibility to help kids like Pedro. These children are Alberta's, no, the WORLD'S future. And the future will be saved thanks to people like Bruce Richards and I.
You might not know it, but Bruce and I are involved in many different charities throughout Edmonton.
(A very cute nurse walks past.)
Oh! Hello, Nurse Andrews. How are you today?
NURSE ANDREWS: I'm doing VERY well, Mr. Roberts.
KYLE ROBERTS: Well, that's good. Say, Nurse Andrews, when's your break? I'd like to, um, TALK to you about what we can do to help the children.
NURSE ANDREWS: (giggles) Oh, that would be VERY nice. You have very good ideas about what should be done.
KYLE ROBERTS: Oh, I'll show you my plans about what need to be done. For the children. You might have to review my notes. Twice.
(Nurse Andrews blushes and smiles.)
NURSE ANDREWS: I'm off-shift in fifteen minutes.
KYLE ROBERTS: That'll do nicely. I'll meet you in the office on the third floor? Good.
(turns back to camera) Nurse Andrews and I work VERY closely together to make sure that the children here are being taken care of. Sometimes our meetings last all night long. And it's just a part of the lengths I go through to help such needy youngsters as little Johnny here, who's in the hospital for chemotherapy.
CHEMO PATIENT: My name's Jennifer!
KYLE ROBERTS: Whoa. Sorry about that. Geez, grow some hair so I can tell you're a girl next time. Or wear pink or something.
(Roberts walks out of the hospital room into the hallway.)
The point I'm trying to make here is that there are youth who really need help in this world. Some, like the kids here are just plain sick. Some youth need an helping hand to get their lives on track.
I know of some kids who are suffering from one very horrible illness: Alcoholism.
Axe, Diamond, is there something wrong that makes you drink all the time? Is it your parents? Did they raise you wrong?
Listen guys, drinking's NOT the answer. Hell, a good look at the Calgary Connection can show you that.
So I've got a little something in mind before our match at Monday Night Fights. Bruce and I are here to HELP you two in your battle with the bottle. And, come Monday, we'll have a little...intervention... in the ring.
Just so you don't go down the wrong path. Remember, adults like Bruce and I are supposed to be your mentors. Adults that show you the right way in life. It's good that you're striving to be winners here in the NAPW, but with little ol' Jack Daniels at your side?
All you'll be are losers.
So, Bruce and I will see you on Monday. Until then, I'm Kyle Roberts, hero to the children: both here at the Stollery Children's Hospital and everywhere in this world of ours.
