That's right, I've got an addiction to predictions. So do it, foo'.
NAPW TITLE MATCH
"Perfection" Evan Cartwright (c) vs Ravager III
This is it. The fate of Evan Cartwright will be decided. He has carried the NAPW Title with pride, even with honor, but also with a troubled mind and heavy heart. The pressures of being the man on top of the mountain have twisted the perfect psyche. For Evan Cartwright, tonight is about mastering his inner being and truly becoming... a champion.
Ravager. A man who has perennially contended for the top prize in New Alberta Pro. He has held the richest prize, once. All too briefly. And then in a flash of gold it was gone. For nearly one year Ravager has failed in his quest to truly become the franchise player in western Canada. Never has he been so focused. Never has he been so close. For Ravager, tonight is about the final chance at the coveted gold, a chance he is approaching with a focus and intensity never before seen...
Two men. Two fates.
One championship.
TAG TITLE MATCH
TITLES WILL CHANGE HANDS ON A DQ OR COUNT-OUT
The New & Improved D-X (c) vs Midnight Cowboys II
If D-X lose, they must BREAK UP!
They are the most decorated tag team in NAPW history. The #1 ranked tag team in all of professional wrestling for 2006. The wrestling media has showered them with accolades. Now, riding a career-defining win in the Hegstrand Memorial Tournament against the best tag teams the world had to offer, The New & Improved D-X have no plans for their dynasty to end, or to part with their cherished NAPW Tag Titles ever again.
There are dark riders on the horizon. Undefeated until they stepped into the ring with D-X several weeks ago, The Midnight Cowboys will once again challenge for the NAPW Tag Team titles. In that time, older brother Clint has pinned one-half of the champions, Stylin' Kyle Roberts, in singles competition. With the backing of NAPW Owner R. Joseph Winchell III, The Midnight Cowboys stand poised to make history, dethroning the greatest tag team of perhaps this past decade.
Yet the stakes in this contest are greater than even the NAPW Tag Team Titles. The odds are against D-X not only in the rules, but because of a stipulation. The mad Winchell has written into the match contract that if Stylin' Kyle and The Beast lose the match, they not only lose the tag team titles... but they will never again team up. The New & Improved D-X will die. The dynasty. The titles. The greatest team in wrestling. And perhaps the men who will declare... that they killed the greatest team in wrestling.
NO HOLDS BARRED
FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE
The Untouchables (Chris Casino & Krenshov) vs The Doomriders (Billy Kryenik & Deathrow)
One year ago. The Doomriders destroy The Delivery Men in a Falls Count Anywhere tag match. NAPW takes notice... Kryenik & Deathrow have arrived. Just one month later, Billy Kryenik pins Chris Casino in the second round of the 2006 Chris Casino Canada Cup tournament. Eliminating the very man who invented the tournament.
Just a few months ago, Kenny Krenshov - at the behest of owner R. Joseph Winchell III - destroys Tommy Deathrow in singles competition. Then at Black Thursday II, the Action! Battle Royale comes down to two men: Krenshov... and Kryenik. Kryenik upsets the giant...
In 2007, there is a new power in NAPW. The Untouchables. Chris Casino, Krenshov and Kurt Castle have dominated and are poised to take control. However, standing in their path to ultimate power is a violent, unpredictable, and resurgent obstacle: THE DOOMRIDERS. A renewed Tommy Deathrow and the phoenix Billy Kryenik have reunited. At Cold Snap, Chris Casino & Krenshov will meet The Doomriders in the hell that is NO HOLDS BARRED - FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE. Expect the unexpected. The only guarantee is that indeed, before the night is through, one or all of these men...
Will bleed.
TEAM GAUNTLET MATCH
The Foundation vs Team Kurtis & Nightmare
Two men in the ring at a time. When a man is pinned, the next member of his team enters the match until all three members of a team have been eliminated.
It started with a small spark.
Jeff James, the little brother. The over-matched challenger. Jeff James, the man who evolved and adapted and became something entirely different from what he once was. He is the greatest TV Champion in NAPW history, and yet still, blood ties never stop mattering. Always Jeff James was there to back up brother Thomas Young, despite the growing conflict between himself and his brother's partner, the arrogant Prince Darko. The tension within The Foundation grew daily...
Brothers til the end. Two Kurtis boys, good ol' Kentucky boys. Chad. Matthew. Respectively "The Show" and "The Angry American." When The Foundation gang-assaulted Chad, it was Matthew who stepped up to defend his injured brother's honor. When The Foundation assaulted Matthew, it was Chad who sought revenge. And when Chad was out with an injury, Matthew found a man who had as much reason to hate The Foundation as he did. He found Nightmare.
The Foundation vs Team Kurtis & Nightmare. Yet the battle lines once drawn so clearly have blurred. His inability to win the TV Title from Jeff James saw something snap inside of Nightmare. Something ugly was released. Nightmare is not merely an island unto himself: He is a fortress assaulting any and all who come near. The Foundation is cracked and crumbling. And yet Prince Darko, in taking the TV Title from Jeff James, may have begun the sealing process.
It will be a Team Gauntlet match with huge reprecussions on the NAPW rankings. Neither side is unified or cohesive. The minds of Thomas Young and Nightmare are in question. The physical condition of Chad Kurtis is unknown. The situation is volatile. And now, that one small spark of Jeff James has grown.
And one spark is all that it will take for the fire of ages to erupt.
-PROVINCIAL TITLE MATCH-
"The Devastator" Kurt Castle (c) vs "Big Bad" Brian Bruno
He is "The Devastator." And yet, he has not had the success he hoped for thus far in NAPW. The Provincial Champion, a finalist in the Canada Cup, a man with many wins under his belt. But Kurt Castle is a proud man. To him, it is unacceptable that at Black Thursday II he lost to Chad Kurtis. It is unacceptable that Billy Kryenik was able to pin him. It is absolutely, utterly unfathomable that Tommy Deathrow was - however briefly - named the Provincial Champion after pinning Castle with the help of a steel chair. Commissioner Winchell overturned the result of that match, and Castle retained the Provincial Title.
But that is unacceptable for Kurt Castle. He wants to be - he MUST be - the best. Undisputed. Turning back all challengers. And at Cold Snap, he will face a man who has beaten the biggest man on the NAPW roster...
Few men in NAPW are as tough as "Big Bad" Brian Bruno. Yet it was not toughness that led Bruno to earning the fastest win in NAPW history over the monster Krenshov, it was intelligence. Brian Bruno has shown an uncanny ability to think on the fly and adapt to any situation in the ring. He has come close to gold before, just coming up short in two TV Title attempts. But he is today exuding confidence and at the peak of his physical condition.
NAPW gold on the line. Pride on the line. Kurt Castle must have redemption. He wears the belt, but only when he defeats Brian Bruno at Cold Snap in definitive fashion will he truly feel he has proved to the world at large that he is indeed a champion. Unfortunately, Brian Bruno is intent on proving the exact same thing. Two of NAPW's toughest bulls will meet head to head, smashmouth and full steam ahead. Only one walks out the Provincial Champion.
SPECIAL TAG MATCH
Patrick Bickle & Simply Beautiful vs "The Lemondrop Kid" Lloyd Rees & David Banks
Patrick Bickle is man who did not see his career take off when he became NAPW champion. Rather - the stress of being the target crippled him mentally. Bickle has fallen onto hard times in the standings, and has been targeted by his nemesis "The Lemondrop Kid" Lloyd Rees.
But Bickle has one friend left in NAPW, the hottest young wrestler to hit the squared circle in some time. Simply Beautiful has been waging war with "The Lemondrop Kid" Lloyd Rees... and so Rees brought in a man who hates Simply Beautiful with everything he is. David Banks has returned to NAPW with a new attitude and new arsenal... but the same loathing for Simply Beautiful.
With "The Lemondrop Kid" riding high after pinning the NAPW Champion in a Four-Corners match just one week prior, the rankings will take a back seat. All four men will meet in the ring. There will be no sneak attacks from outside. There will be no attacks from the crowd. Bickle and SB. Rees and Banks. Step up.
Kevin Kodiak & Legion vs Next Generation
Two teams have been quietly tearing up the NAPW tag scene since the new year. The powerhouse team of Kevin Kodiak and Legion will look to stake their claim as #1 contenders to the tag belts with a win over the "worldwide" team of Next Generation. One week ago Next Generation were handed their first loss against the team of Castle and Krenshov - two giants of men in their own rights. And yet despite the size discrepancy, the incredible HEART of Sakai and Santiago shone through in that contest. They did not win the match that night, but they won respect in the eyes of the fans.
The size and strength advantage for Kodiak & Legion is obvious, and the big men have been dominant in their matches since setting aside their differences to team up. But now, with one loss on their records, Sakai and Santiago are more determined than ever to prove that they are indeed the "next generation" of tag team wrestling.
Jay O'Brien vs Johnny Rotten
The undefeated rookies of NAPW will square off. Jay O'Brien, the englishmen, the younger brother of wrestling veteran "Awesome" Andy O'Brien: 3-0. Johnny Rotten, the young punk upstart who is directly responsible for the end to NAPW alumni Don Travelli's career: 2-0. Unfortunately for Rotten, he got on Commissioner Winchell's bad side... and the opportunistic Jay O'Brien saw his opening. One man's streak will come to an end in a match that will have huge ranking implications. This could be the show-stealer, folks.
SIX-MAN SCRAMBLE MATCH
Marcus Chamberlain vs Dio Muerte vs Krusty Kid Paul vs Jack "Grey Knight" Saffire vs Dez Carter vs Maxx Xtreme
Six men with different goals, different styles, different careers. At Cold Snap they will wrestle in a match that can only have one winner. A winner who will certainly rocket into title contention. NAPW newcomers Marcus Chamberlain, Maxx Extreme and Jack Saffire have this platform to truly breakout. Veterans Dez Carter, Krusty Kid Paul would each like to get their career back on track with a huge win on Pay-Per-View. The wildcard Dio Muerte, as of late on a winning streak, has to be considered the favorite. But when you get six bodies flying in and out of the ring, first pinfall or submission finishes... anything can happen!
OWNERSHIP vs MASK
R. Joseph Winchell III vs MR. CANADA
Who is Mr. Canada? For most wrestling fans, the answer is simply: "He's Mr. Canada!"
That answer is not good enough for NAPW owner R. Joseph Winchell III. He is obsessed with proving that Mr. Canada is, in fact, former NAPW Champion "The Nexus One" Rex Caliber. The past few months have not been kind to Winchell's sanity. The Men In Black, the stress of running a successful wrestling promotion, his overwhelming hatred for The New & Improved D-X...
And the return of Mr. Canada. It is safe to say that Winchell has snapped. And yet he still - somewhere inside his twisted black heart - retains the desire to prove to his father that he could indeed run NAPW better than anyone. That when fans read about NAPW years down the road, it would be his name that was synonymous with the rise of New Alberta Pro on the wrestling scene.
The truth, however, is that Winchell's partisan politics have been destroying NAPW from inside out. On the surface attendance is up. The company has expanded into Pay-Per-View. Merchandise sales are higher than they have ever been. And yet the company is losing money. Winchell's desire to become the best over-rode common sense. It was Mr. Canada who came bearing the horrible truth - NAPW is almost bankrupt.
The demise of NAPW, however, is not something either Mr. Canada or Joseph Winchell want to see. Yet still Winchell's maniacal obsession with Mr. Canada's true identity continues, to the extent that he challenged Mr. Canada to a match with insane stipulations. He wanted Mr. Canada's mask. Mr. Canada agreed, on one condition: Winchell would put up ownership of NAPW, legitimately, in exchange. Winchell refused... until Mr. Canada revealed that he knew of the financial issues.
Mr. Canada upped the ante: He would put his mask on the line versus Joseph's ownership... but if Joey did indeed win, not only would the Canada mask come off? But Mr. Canada would personally bankroll NAPW with private money to ensure it continues on into the future. However if Mr. Canada wins the contest, R. Joseph Winchell III will transfer all ownership of NAPW to Mr. Canada.
It is not the main event. It is not for a title. It is not for rankings. But no match in NAPW history has had such direct reprecussions on the very existence of the promotion such as this. It will be Mr. Canada vs R. Joseph Winchell III, the former "Bad Boy" Joey Malone, one-on-one. Mask vs Ownership! One way or another, one of these two men will be FINISHED after Cold Snap!
NAPW TITLE MATCH
