hey, y'all. So I got bored and just started writing a NAPW column and this is what came out (sorry its on Word). So yeah, I hope you like it and criticisms are welcome...
ps. this is not my 9'th column and should not be posted on the main page.
Last night, when the men who pay for my meals were waiting in line, I talked to the real brains behind the success of NAPW. His name is Ryan Ro. For over a year this man has (almost) single handedly raised a local Alberta wrestling show to National success. Some men who got there big breaks like Lobo and D!(who I had the chance to sit down and talk to during my first few days) have gone on to bigger and better things while other riley ring veterans like Marcus Millar (The Moose to fans) have stayed close to their families and day-time jobs.
Now I must say that when I signed up for this job a little over a month ago, I was expecting crazy characters and zany antics. But the reality is that every man walking out that curtain is very professional in this business, and do not take it lightly when it is insulted. Just take Robert Allen (Ravager), let me explain further. When I came into this federation to write, I was very cocky. I was talking and walking around like I was the man of the hour, the man with the power, to sweet to be sour…So one day Rob offered to “train” me. More or less, he stretched me and made me take bump after bump after bump. Then after all that he went home to his wife and kids, what the fans don’t know eh?
Anyways, back to Ryan Ro. Dr. Frankenstein to the monster that is NAPW. He remains off-screen, mostly cause his mush isn’t pretty enough (blame Casino!). Much like Joey Winchell’s father (the dreaded “back of chair”, played by Ryan himself), Ryan takes his position very seriously and decides to leave his genius behind the scenes. During the talk, among other things, we conversed about the finish with Frank (who got this info via “photographer” Rob Klass, a booker and head trainer at NAPW Training), we also talked about the angles we were leading up to for Cold Snap and just the wrestling business in general.
During my time here I have learned much about the ins and out of wrestling, I’ve met so many characters on screen and generally nice down-to-earth guys off screen (except Nightmare, who lives the character), and most importantly I have the opportunity to live my dream of being of a sports writer and sports entertainer. The time I have spent here is like a dream come true, and I hope for many more memories to be formed. So until I insult your intelligence in my next column, this is Alex “Lex”…Vain, signing off and signing out. Peace.
