Every year OPW runs a special tournament called Assassination Tango, or Ass Tang for short. Assassination Tango is my brain child and has evolved over the years. This year will be the third annual Ass Tang, and I decided I would like to do something special. For the first time ever we will be allowing non-OPW’ers to compete in the event, but we are still keeping it kind of exclusive as we are only extending this offer to two feds outside of OPW, and they are NAPW and LEGACY. We are giving four spots to each fed with eight spots for OPW. There will be both OOC and IC prizes for the event. The tournament runs 2 months, which equals 4 OPW shows. Shows have a ten day rp period, and the rp limit is usually 3 though some matches may have a 4 rp limit if it is a big tag match. The only major rule is no fed bashing OOC or IC as this event will hopeful help with future inter-promotion relations. Any competitors in Assassination Tango will be given the option of staying in OPW as a secondary fed if they choose, as long as it doesn’t conflict with their primary fed. The IC prize for Assassination Tango is a shot at any OPW title of their choice in the next year. Now if A non-OPW wrestler wins the event and chooses not to stay in OPW as a secondary fed they will still receive the OOC prize (details below), but it will be up to their fed head whether they will honor the title shot prize in their fed. Now let me explain Assassination Tango.
The set up for Ass Tang can be complicated sometimes but that’s what makes it fun. We usually start with 16 wrestlers and through elimination matches whittle it down to four people. At our anniversary show those four wrestle in a series of matches where one wrestler is eliminated per match until two are left and they face off for the chance to be the assassination tango champ and get the prize. Each match in the Ass tang tournament has a different gimmick/mach stip and the wrestler who wins Ass Tang will have proven himself in all types of wrestling and is a well rounded athlete. The early matches in the tournament are usually large tag matches where if one person loses the entire team is eliminated. There will usually be mix matched teams with allies and enemies possibly being on the same team. This is done to encourage teamwork OOC and IC. Most of the time you won’t have had much interaction with your partners before Ass Tang so this makes the rps of the early rounds really interesting and fresh.
One of the other twists to Ass Tang is once your team advance it is broken up and you must face off in the next round. So which ever 4 man team advances is then broken up into two tag teams at random and must face off to advance, and then the tag team that wins will face off as part of the final four. So you need your partners to advance but you also have to be careful because if you win your partners can become your opponents. One of the other things that I mentioned above is that each match has a stip/gimmick and they range from hardcore to athletic based (examples could be Ladder match, iron man, 2/3 falls, table match etc.) The catch is while rping for the match you don’t know what the stip is your wrestler/team must be prepared for anything. I do this as a surprise to the handlers and fans as I will write in the stip when I write the match to give them something extra of a surprise to look forward too, though occasionally I will have the match stips announced on OPW’s show back alley which still gives you some time to discuss them in your rps. When Assassination Tango is down to four participants they will face off in a series of 3 matches at OPW’s anniversary show with one wrestler being eliminated each match until only one is left. (These 3 matches will be rp’d for together as one match for judging purposes.)
Assassination Tango will take place with the first show after OPW’s Blood Feud event (Ass Tang opening round teams will most likely be announced at Blood Feud), and will continue through OPW’s 3rd anniversary show for those who advance. To encourage interaction with other e-fedders you will not be paired with people from your home fed. Each 4 man team of the opening round would potentially consist of 1 NAPW wrestler, 2 OPW wrestlers, and 1 Legacy wrestler. I will make a list of screen names and post it so everyone can contact partners and other Ass tang participants to discuss ideas. You will also need to sign up for the OPW forums so you can post rps, but will also be able to contact others via our PM system. Also in the interest of fairness we will allow someone from each fed to be a judge for the event, but it must be someone who isn’t participating in the event.
Here is the schedule for the event
February 21st Blood Feud
Assassination Tango opening round teams announced.
March 7th Showdown
Match a) 4 on 4 match winning teams are split up into tag teams to face off next show
Match b) 4 on 4 match
March 21st Showdown
Match a) 2 on 2 match winning teams advance to the ass tang finals at the 3rd anny show
Match b) 2 on 2 match
April 4th Showdown
Non-tournament singles matches involving the remaining Ass Tang participants in order to build hype for the event. (There is also the possibility that the participants will be given this show off in order to rest up for the big event and can do segments to hype the upcoming match
April 18th 3rd anniversary show (the date of this show may be pushed back a few days to add rp time since it is a major event)
The remaining four participants face off in a series of elimination matches through out the night until only one wrestler is left and they are the winner.
Match a) 1 vs. 1 vs. 1. vs. 1
Match b) 1 vs. 1 vs. 1
Match c) 1 vs. 1 winner of this match is the assignation tango winner.
I know it may sound a bit complicated, but in the past it has been a lot of fun and I think with the inclusion of Legacy and NAPW it could be even more exciting. Something I forgot to mention is that due to the set up of this event a handler may only have one wrestler in the event.
Now as I mentioned above the IC prize is a title shot of your choice anytime in the next year ( if you choose to stay with OPW as a secondary fed, otherwise it is up to your fed head if they will honor this reward in your home fed.
The handler of the winner of Assassination Tango 2K7 will win the 2007 Kidd prize pack which will be mailed to your house. On average the contents of the prize package usually average at least $100 in value, but contents vary and usually involves me cleaning my room and getting rid of DVDs, CD's, and books I don't want any more and usually I'll buy a new wrestling DVD or something specific for the package. All items will be in good working condition, but some of the DVDS, CDS, and Books might be used if they are from my personal collection and not bought brand new for the package.
Previous Kidd prize packs include
2005 - Josh/Carson (for being awesome and paying OPW’s bills and running things) got over 30-6 hour wrestling tapes of WCW,WWF,ECW, and AWA footage.
2006 – Ledge (winner of 2006 true Outlaw tournament) received
Books

Journey into Darkness: Unauthorized history of Kane (paperback)
VHS
Lita: It Just feels right
RoH: Conclusion
RoH: Reborn Stage one
RoH: Hell Freezes Over
DVD
Grand Masters of Wrestling
Wrestlemania 21 (Single disc, show only)
WWE Holiday Tribute to the Troops
Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon*
CD's
bunch of random rock and metal mix cd promos that we gave away over the years at work.
Not all things in the prize pack will be wrestling related as I might throw in regular movies that I didn't like or haven't watched in awhile, and sometimes I’ll just find random stuff to throw in like hats, posters, key chains and give away stuff from my work. I know in reading this it may just sound like you win the chance for me to send you all my junk, and actually I do use it as an excuse to clean my room LOL, but you will only get good quality stuff you can ask Ledge about that.
If you are interested in competing feel free to contact me via PM on the message boards or on AIM at Cupkake512. Also remember please only sign up if you are going to take this seriously as in the opening rounds your partners depend on you, if you no show and cause your team to lose to only are you eliminated from the event so are your partners.
I hope this event will help bring our three feds closer together where we can work together again in the future, but also allow the handlers to meet new people, and some different competition. If you have any questions feel free to post them here, or contact me with the info given above.
