5. Slammiversary - Senshi vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Jay Lethal vs. Alex Shelley
4. SmackDown! - Chris Benoit vs. Finlay
3. RAW - Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro - Ladder Match
2. No Way Out - Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker
1. Wrestlemania 22 - Mick Foley vs. Edge - Hardcore Match
Probably Would have been different had I started watching TNA before this past month. I've also never seen an ROH match since some dickwad beat me in an eBay auction for Joe vs. Kobashi. On top of that, I don't watch any puroresu or lucha libre, and I don't consider MMA "wrestling."
This is just off the top of my head - changes may come.
PS does the Slammiversary match count? I saw it on a DVD (Best of X Division vol 2. is AWESOME) rather than live on PPV.

As of right now, my match of the year is Bryan Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness - ROH "Unified" from Liverpool.
I'm also a big fan of the CZW vs ROH Cage of Death match, which was so much more than just a garbage match. Great heat, angles, spots, psychology, storytelling.
Strong & Aries vs The Briscoes was a killer match from "Unified". Strong & Aries vs Kings of Wrestling had a series of good matches I'm a fan of. I enjoyed the DQ finish to their second match with Aries flipping out.
LAX vs Styles/Daniels in the cage from TNA's fall PPV (Don't remember if it was Bound For Glory or not) was super hot. LAX vs Styles/Daniels in general produced some killer matches.
WWE wise I saw nothing that makes moty, but I did not see Finlay vs Benoit. Finlay did produce some good stuff what I saw. Too bad WWE screwed Rey's reign up, there were some money matches in there...

In no particular order:
1. Delerious vs. El Generico: IWA Mid- South "We're No Joke".
2. Low Ki vs Necro Butcher: IWA Mid South "We're No Joke"
3. Blood Generation vs Do- Fixer: ROH "Supercard of Honor"
4. RVD vs Cena : ECW "One Night Stand" (not the greatest match, but for RVD winning the title)
5. ROH vs CZW : Cage of Death from "Death before Dishonor"

5. Samoa Joe vs Kenta Kobashi (ROH) not sure if it happened in 06, but I did just see it this year on youtube.
4. Scotty "By God" Vegas vs "Killer" Kyle Krup (NWH) Awesome Crusierweight match, and Scotty Vegas is f'n awesome!
3. Alex Shelley vs Senshi vs Petey Williams vs Jay Lethal vs Shark Boy (TNA Slammiversary) Great match followed by Alex Shelley's great explanation of the match
2. Team DX vs Team Rated-RKO (WWE) Summerslam Cm Punk, and The Hardy's did not get eliminated to put over Edge or Orton. Was definately nice to see something fresh with a whole team avoid elimination.
1. The Machine vs Nocturnas vs Corvin (AWF) This triple threat No DQ was a match I booked that came out way better then I could have ever hoped for. It was brutal.

I have to add some honorable mentions
In no order:
1. The Royal Rumble Match - Incredible performances by both Triple H and Rey Mysterio, plus WWE FINALLY puts over the litte guy! Hurray! More important than any of that, we had the heartwarming victory for Rey in the name of Eddie Guerrero. The Wrestlemania match was a huge letdown (only 9 minutes for a match that was billed as the final main event, and then got switched?) WWE went too far with the Eddie storyline, and I really don't like Randy Orton as a person fow what he said about Eddie, kayfabe or not. That match should have just been Rey vs. Angle, and it would have been incredible, an all-time classic. That aside, this was one of the very best Royal Rumble matches I've ever seen, beaten probably only by the 1997 rumble that Austin won. That's my opinion, anyway, and there's plenty of guys who know more then I do.
2. Backlash: RVD vs. Shelton Benjamin - MIB/IC title match. Holy hell. What an awesomely worked match. It stole the show away from the main event, and it put over Benjamin as a possible WWE title contender (which WWE has continuously held him from even entering the title picture.) The way WWE treats RVD and Benjamin, I'd bet my bottom dollar both guys are headed towards TNA, RVD most likely in the coming months when his contract runs out. Then he can go and be the Kurt Angle to AJ Styles' Samoa Joe, and Benjamin can just tear the house down every night, and not have to worry about some goofy quasi-heel gimmick that has no shot of catching on. Haas should follow suit, but if I recall he's burned some serious bridges.
UFC: Ortiz/Shamrock III - I get to say that I saw Ken Shamrock's last fight, live. As short and one-sided as it was, the man is a legend, and I was a huge Shamrock mark when he was in WWE. Is it wrestling? No, not exactly. But if Pride can win WON's promotion of the year 3 years in a row, then I can give a UFC match honorable mention! HA-RUMPH!
And the capper?
iMPACT!: Samoa Joe vs. Senshi vs. Sonjay Dutt - X Division Championship Match - God I love Senshi. What an awesome match.

Okay here goes with my top five, in no particular order.....
#5. Senshi vs Chris Sabin - This was the October TNA PPV (the name of which escapes me at this second) and it frickin' rocked. Up until then I thought the card was so so, but when they came out they brought the Chi Town fans back to life and put on an awesome match.
#4. London/Kendrick vs Regal/Taylor vs MNM vs Hardyz (Ladder Match) - This was at the December PPV and I belive it was originally supposed to be just London/ Kendrick vs Regal vs/ Taylor but they changed it at the last moment. This was one of the best ladder matches I've seen in a long time and it stole the show in my humble opinion. The spot where Mercury got his face smashed open by a ladder was brutal.
#3. LAX vs Styles / Daniels (six sides of steel) - First off LAX is the best team in wrestling period. Second this was an incredible match that was worth the PPV alone. Hernadez coming off the top of the cage was sick. Homocide is just cool and his vertibreaker finisher is rockin'. I was actually shocked that LAX won the titles back since Styles and Daniels won them the previous month but who cares? The match kicked ass.
2. Undertaker vs Kurt Angle - This was at No Way Out and the match was a million times better than I thought it would be. Sure the final five minutes were kinda overdone but aside from that, I loved this match. In my opinion it was Angles last great match in wrestling.
#1. Styles / Daniels vs AMW - Another great tag match from TNA. AMW is a greta team and it's retarded that TNA broke them up. I grew up being a huge mark for tag team wrestling and this reminded me of the old Midnight Express vs Rock N' Roll Express war. Wait...I just showed how old I am huh? Anyway great match and a surprising win for Daniels and Styles.
Other matches I loved - Money In The Bank at Wrestlemania, LAX vs Styles / Daniels (Ultimate X Match), Nitro vs Hardy (ladder match), Nitro vs Carlito vs Hardy, Samoa Joe vs Styles vs Daniels (ultimate X Match)

It was Detroit, and I agree Sabin/Senshi from Bound For Glory was great. I'm surprised you picked The Rumble, Andrew, I felt it was quite a let-down. Glad you enjoyed it though ,and it was great to see Rey win. And hang with Triple H to do so! I'll keep my nitpicks to myself.

1.Raw-Shelton, Super Crazy, Nitro, Hardy, Masters i think that was them, or am i missing on. All I know is, Shelton springboards, flip over master while crazy is in the masterlock. and holds on to the head of masters and brings him down. Pure Beauty.
2.Raw-Shelton vs HBK the one closest to royal rumble. Shelton never looked any better out there.
3.WM22- Mick vs Edge. All nice.
4.TNA- Team 3d with some dude vs three other people. Only thing I remember from this match is that, buba's foot stayed on that guys face when he went for the boot.
5.Smackdown- Angle vs Rey, Angle's going away match. Good stuff.
SB, I agree, they treat Shelton like crap. And dude would tear the house down if he went to TNA. I kinda hope he does.
And Randy did go too far. You can only juice that angle out to a limit, and they crossed it to hell.
Casino, the MITB, i felt as if it could had been longer, thats why i felt it sucked. If flair didn't break his back off that fall, it would had been a better match. And some of the people they picked to enter the match, wasn't the best. Finley, Lashley, Flair, I don't see them as ladder match material. But Shelton was on FIRE on that match.

It's hard for me to pick my favorite matches of 2006. Partly because a lot of the matches and storyline were crap this year, and partly because I don't get to watch anything but WWE and TNA, but I give it a try.
1.LAX vs. Daniels/Styles (six sides of steel) 2.DX vs. Team RKO 3.Samoa Joe vs Styles vs Daniels (ultimate X Match) 4.Nitro vs Hardy (ladder match) 5.Nitro vs Carlito vs Hardy
I think TNA made up some of the gap between them and WWE this year. A lot of the time their matches were better. But, WWE did bring back DX and I love DX. Plus the DX vs. Team RKO is entertaining, but it takes some of their title contenders out of the picture, and I am tired of Cena. And not that anyone asked, but I got my winner for worst match and biggest waste of TV time for 2007 and the winner is K-Fed vs. Cena (what the hell was Vince thinkings).

A quick one: The World's Politest Tag Team (Danny Manners/Brady Roberts) vs. Michael Avery/Randy Myers.
Hands down the funniest match I've ever watched, and it was live, thanks to PWA.
