Hey man I was just wondering how do you know about Cairo,Illinois? I grew up in Wickliffe,Kentucky which is literally right across the river from there. I was just wondering if you are from there orignally or have family there? Sorry if I'm being nosy it was just a shock to see someone listing Cairo as a hometown for a Canadian based e-fed.

Naw, man, I'm from California. I liked the whole concept of Cairo being the intersection of two major rivers (the Mississippi and the Ohio in this case) and I just kinda ran with it after doing a little bit of research on the place. I think I first heard about Cairo, Illinois while reading Huckleberry Finn by the great Mark Twain, and it kinda just stuck with me for some reason. Nope, no family there for me either, at least that I know of. Heck, I'm not even a black man, I just play one on NAPW TV. Hope that helped. -Aaron

That's cool,I was curious because I like I said I grew up in Kentucky right across the river from Cairo, and I have family still living there, actually my uncle was the mayor of Cairo through-out the 1990's. So,if you ever want or need to know anything about Cairo for a roleplay feel free to contact me.

sad thing about his HS graduation that's about right....my uncle was mayor there forever. the only man i know that ever made something out of himself from Cairo was my buddy, former NBAer and co-owner of ABA Las Vegas Venom...Tyrone "T-nes" Nesby.

LOL...But seriously,I don't know what kind of family background Evan is supposed to have come from. But figuring he's probably supposed to be in his mid to late 20's in reality in Cairo back then only the poorest families and those without relatives elsewhere sent their kids through the Cairo school system. Even my uncle, the mayor paid to send his daughter to school in Cape Girardeau,Missouri. Most families sent their kids to schools in neighboring counties in Missouri or Ballard County Kentucky, using relatives addresses as the kid's home addresses or to private schools if they could afford them. That's how bad it had gotten there and finally the state had to crack down on that practice.
P.S. It is pronounced "Care-ro" or "K-ro" not like the city of Cairo,Egypt. Not that the proper way to say it will ever be an issue in an E-Fed just a little FYI.

Small world, eh? Interesting to learn about Cairo as well from the closest thing to a local as we could get.
P.S. I knew it was pronounced "K-Ro," only that monkey, Simply Beautfiul, thought it was pronounced like Cairo, Egypt.

Cairo was a main landmark in Neil Gaiman's "American Gods."
Awesome book, btw. I just finished reading the sequel, "Anansi's Boys."

It's also where King Tut is buried.
Honestly, I have a million bad jokes lined up for this topic. Seriously, the more posts it gets the more bad jokes will spew forth. God I need sleep. Want advice? Don't be a social science major. Term papers suck harder than SB without the Kiniski Cup. And that's a lot of suck.
