Don't get me wrong, I love comic characters and X-Men just as much as the next young male adult, but I have to ask, is NAPW the place for things like... I don't know... mutant powers?
I know this is creative writing and all and magical realism certainly is a wonderful thing to behold, but perhaps more suited to something like a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel.
So I dare to raise the question: Should magical/fantastical realism have a place in NAPW?

Of course it does! Imagine an NAPW where D-X isn't making fun of Predator's subterranean sewer lair or Mirage's minions! It'd be...less hilarious!
In all seriousness, NAPW has been built as a serious, reality based fed. Of course, then we have Stein. And the Delivery Men. Whe are pretty out there.
Basically, I want people to play in the realm of NAPW's Edmonton, which is more or less the real world. I think putting somebody into a magic/mutant power situation will be limiting. How do you joint RPs with guys who are completely in the real world (more or less?)
Right now I'm fine letting people RP with such things. But those powers and such will not be manifested in any way at a show. In the same way that Predator does not have his silly wrist-gauntlet-sword or invisibility on TNF or Action!, neither would Adam Mayhem have any fire-related powers.
This is, after all, a wrestling promotion.
Thoughts?

Some dare to say that the Superstars sexiness is a magical power in its self. I dare to think not.

Are Bickle's RPs too far over the line or should I back it up a little? I tried to make it way too extreme but somehow, in some place, realistic. If I should back it off, mention it.

If you were going to back off, you could have done before our match! Seriously, you're fine. Unless Bickle has claws or can fly. Then we'll need to talk.

I don't have a problem with fantastical elements of characters.
I mean, yes, I'll be rolling my eyes at the latest display of sci-fi elements in Mayhem's promo, or Predator or Jason. But, hey, if it's a good read, why not? I'll just think of it like I do any Kane story, or Undertaker. I'll be reading it with a grain of salt.
Thing is, I roleplay against it by talking about the NAPW special effects budget, because that's how things work in the real world. You won't see Kyle Roberts get sliced by a retractable blade, or frozen in time by Wayne Wright's MINDPOWERS! (Yes, you're welcome to use that, Wright.) That doesn't happen in the real world where Kyle Roberts lives.
It's all camera trickery and special effects. And I treat it as such in my promos. And like Ryan said, it would never happen in a match proper.
So, yes, by all means, have fun writing the fantasy. Just keep in mind I'll be no-selling it whenever I face you.

I think there are feds out there that do the unrealistic stuff and don't feel it really has a place in a place like NAPW really unless it was someone pretending to be iceman and throwing rolle up newspaper balls or maybe having him shave ice so he could make snow balls. but I agree with the f/x budget mentioned earlier, as long as everyone knows its tongue in the cheek super effects and not something serious.

Since I know this question came because of my character, I'd like to say something about it.
It is known in the wrestling world that promotions make some fantastic and somewhat idiotic gimmicks for people. For example, The Undertaker's 'Deadman' gimmick or Eugene's 'Special person' gimmick or Paul Burchill's 'Pirate' gimmick. This is all part of the 'entertaintment' part of the business.
Papa Chango was a Voodoo Man who in his vignettes and stuff voodoo stuff happened but he never used anything voodoo-wise in his matches. It was all gimmick and entertaintment.
Gimmicks are needed in order to have diversity in the promos that are done (or written which applies here). It would become boring if everybody's promo were the same. Wrestler stands in front of a camera and says he's gonna kick his opponnent's @$$.
It would be boring and no one would have anything to write in their promos after three months. Since we don't have TV or anything that we can see each other I cannot make fun of your accent, or your looks or anything like that because I don't know anything about you. With my character at least, you can make fun of the fact that he is different (and the mutant community won't say anything about it) or you can even make fun of him thinking that he is a mutant or something like that.
It gives you something to work with instead of just being your regular promos where it always becomes a battle of wits that often goes to the absurd.
Plus, this gimmick was meant to be exactly this. A boundaries breaker, something that would bring controversy... you catch my drift...
Anyways, I try to make it the most believable that I can. If someone has a problem with it, PM me... I'll take concerns into matter and I'll try to work with it the best I can.
Thanx in advance,
Adam
P.D. Now that we are on the subject... Have they been at least entertaining?
Thanx!!!

Well just some things, a Psychic is more of a fortune teller who can see the future but a telepath reads mind. I think most people get confused based on the extra sensory perception they both have, then again I was confused about the whole telepath/telekenesis deal until I really got into x-men and saw Carrie on TV.
