January 29 is my favorite PPV of the year, Royal Rumble. I'll likely go see it in a theatre, but, is anybody on the board wanting to get together and make a night of it? Is there anybody who has PPV ability and willing to open their home up amongst us Edmonton folk?

If I lived in Canada I'd invite ya, but I'm about a 30 hour drive from you.
Anyway the real question is...who is gonna win?
I hate to say it but I think it'll be Randy (I miss all my big spots) Orton

I hope not. Randy...sigh. They must not want him to EVER be a main eventer, what with Triple H cutting him off, and than Taker doing the same when Randy finally got over again. He's a Luger-style choker now.
The reality is that if they give Randy the Rumble, what's the point? He can't beat anybody big except Foley and Benoit, and that's only because... they both understand making people strong.
Still, the Rumble is always my favorite event of the year. Triple H/Cena seems a lock, but the Rumble does seem more up in the air this year than in the last few.
I shudder to think that Batista/Mark Henry is being considered as a World Title match at the Rumble, though.

Have to say it, Smackdown's main event picture is looking pretty anemic. Maybe they're going Taker, but I'm not looking forward to that.
Personally, they could push either Booker T or Chris Benoit back up to Main Event status, but I might be the only guy that wants to see Booker take the World Heavyweight Title, too.
Sigh. I was so pro-brand split, too. Call it a day, WWE!

Booker T should have won the belt at WM XIX. Instead Triple H proved 'your people' can't win the big one, unless they are also half-samoan.
I had a huge rant typed up here, but I know that WWE isn't worth the energy anymore. I'm a wrestling fan, but not a fan of Vince-brand.

Randy Orton wins, no doubt...Raw won last year, Smackdown wins this year, and I don't see who else there is. Orton beats Batista at WM and Batista takes time off to recover from his injury.
I have a feeling Cena is gonna lose the title this Sunday to Kurt Angle.

If you think Randy is going to win then I have three words for you....ROB VAN DAM! Rumour has it he'll be back to 100% in time for the Royal Rumble.
Booker T, even though SHOULD be a world champ by now (and still boasts he's a five time champ of a company that went under more than five years ago). I see the U.S. title shortly in his future since Benoit's contract is running out. (and I don't think he's renewing *cough*TNA*cough*)
He'll probably start a feud with Orlando Jordan since what conspired on Smackdown! Which is unfortunate for all of us.

You also have to remember that a person from Raw could jump to Smackdown. Smackdown won the Royal Rumble with Chris Benoit two years ago but Raw has had the main event two years in a row.
*Also when RVD returns he could easily be either a Raw or Smackdown superstar. Look at Mark Henry, injured on Raw and came back to Smackdown!

RVD has been recovering from a serious knee injury. I hope RVD returns to win the Rumble, but I think we're looking at Randy vs Batista for Mania. And HHH vs. Cena. Sorry guys, but taking the title off Cena before Mania would be Vince admitting he made a poor choice. That won't happen. Ever.

RVD isn't gonna win the Rumble...he's not main event material in the WWE. Personally, I enjoy his acrobatics and everything, but his kicks and punches look awful, and he can't tell a story very well...I think he's a tad over rated. I also find him rather whiny. Just my opinion though. But Orton is gonna win...trust me, it's been planned for months.

The problem is that who's going to take Randy seriously after all the jobbing he's done? He can't beat the big names.
Having received RVD's dvd for christmas: He is a fantastic, unique person in the ring and I truly *appreciate* how he views wrestling as something artistic, and a place to show creativity. The ring is his canvas and I love it.
His punches are the one part of his arsenal that just looks weak as all get out. Otherwise I enjoy his work very much.
back to the topic at hand: Edmontonites! Let's get together, but where and who's coming? If not somebody's house, a bar we could hit up?

Personally, I enjoy his acrobatics and everything, but his kicks and punches look awful, and he can't tell a story very well...I think he's a tad over rated. His ECW matches with Jerry Lynn, Lance Storm, Sabu, Rhyno, Bigelow, and a few others told excellent stories. The punches I can agree with but his kicks are 90 % legit and from a look perspective are good. On a skill with the kicks I'd rate them bad because he doesn't protect his opponents. He learned that in Japan where the guys beat the hell out of him, and he had to do it to get respect and be like them. He can't be a main event talent because he's not allowed to talk the way he did in ECW, and the fans won't accept him in another gimmick, (see Simon Dean, Raven, Tommy Dreamer ect). The only ones that we're allowed to be successful was the Dudleys only after Vince let them be more ECW like. Sorry for the rant but I've watched so much ECW wrestling I can quote some matches by heart lol.

RVD's DVD had a match with RVD/Sabu vs The Eliminators. It was great. Overall a really great DVD. If only he'd stop punching.

On Sunday I'll know if my same friend is hosting the Rumble, Pres. We might be able to cram even more people in his basement, but that's not a guarantee.
