(Rex is waiting in the lobby of W-PUS, the local AM radio station in Parts Unknown. He has gotten booked on the sports show that airs every Monday Morning at 10 a.m. His agent Brian McKinney is there with him.)
Rex: What the hell am I doing here? This is AM radio, no body listens to AM anymore.
Brian: Rex, you just don’t realize the potential of this show. We could get all kinds of people to come to your shows.
Rex: Let me ask you this, where are my upcoming matches?
Brian: Well Edmonton, Alberta, Canada…Cleveland, Ohio and New Jersey.
Rex: Where does this radio show reach to?
Brian: Parts Unknown, North Carolina and Grover, North Carolina.
Rex: Then who is going to see me wrestle that will listen to the show?
Brian: Well look at the time! Your next.
(Rex is led to the booth by the secretary. He sits down and begins his segment with host Jim Stevens.)
Jim: We now have in the studio, Rex Caliber who is a local wrestler. Welcome Rex.
Rex: Yeah…Uh it’s wonderful to be on today.
Jim: Well this is the call in part of the show. You ready for the tough questions from the audience.
(Rex shakes his head in stifled anger.)
Rex: Sure am
Jim: Caller number one is Pete From Parts Unknown, what’s your question for Mr. Caliber?
Pete: Rex, how can you compete in a business that is full of steroids?
Rex: What’s a steroid, did I say that right, Steroid? Next caller please.
Jim: Ok next caller is Brian from Cleveland? Ok What’s your question Brian?
(Rex looks like he is about to explode in anger, but somehow keeps his cool.)
Brian: I’ve followed this man for 2 years and he is just great. Everyone needs to come see him in Canada Thursday. He is wrestling in a battle royal. He is going to beat Death, Thunder and Moose.
Rex: Ok Thanks for the support. Hang up on him please.
Jim: Well what a sweet caller, he must be visiting from Ohio. Ok last caller is Lisa from right here in Parts Unknown. Lisa, what’s your question?
(Rex sinks into his chair, as he recognizes the voice on the speaker.)
Lisa: How could a fine upstanding, citizen like you Rex, leave your girlfriend all alone why you see the world as a wrestler. Why can’t I go to Alberta with you. You bast…
(Rex quickly forces Jim to hang up.)
Rex: Crazy stalkers here huh?
Jim: Well that’s all the time for this segment. Good luck Rex with all your groupies.
(Rex leaves the booth ready to strangle his manager, his girlfriend, and himself for being associated with either. Brian is waiting in the car for him.)
Brian: That was awesome. Do you think they knew it was me?
Rex: Who the hell cares who it was? I knew it was, isn’t that bad enough.
Brian: Do you want me to come with you to your matches this weekend?
Rex: No, in fact as soon as I get home I’m packing for the trip. I’m going to go to the airport/bus station and I’m leaving for Alberta.
Brian: So soon?
(They pull up to the house as Rex sees his clothes being thrown out the upstairs window, and laying over the front lawn.)
Rex: Look, Lisa already got my stuff ready.
Brian: Good luck this weekend.
Rex: And to think, with all this love here, I get to travel cross the continent to fight 17 men.
(Rex gets out of the car, shakes his head and picks up his clothes on the lawn.)
